2010 Volvo V70 Overview

The 2009 Volvo V70 has a base six-cylinder engine that is mated to an automatic transmission. Reviewers said the V70 is underpowered compared to some competitors. However, they said it still has adequate passing power and that the transmission shifts smoothly. The V70 gets an EPA-estimated 16/25 mpg city/highway. Front-wheel drive is standard, and there isn’t an available all-wheel drive system that many competitors offer. Test drivers said the V70 has responsive steering, but the suspension doesn’t smooth out potholes or bumps in the road well.

Most test drivers liked the quality of the materials used in the 2009 Volvo V70, but some thought the standard grey cloth seating is plain. Reviewers said the seats are comfortable for most passengers; however, like in most wagons, the back seats are better for two adults rather than three. Cargo space is spacious with a maximum of 72.1 cubic feet of space and 37 cubic feet when all the seats are in use. Standard features include power heated mirrors, a power driver’s seat with lumbar adjustment, Bluetooth, dual-zone automatic climate control and an eight-speaker sound system with a six-disc CD changer. Integrated booster seats are also standard on the V70, which is rare for the class. Optional equipment when it was new includes leather upholstery, a sunroof, heated front seats, rain-sensing wipers, rear park assist, a power tailgate, an audio system with a CD changer and satellite radio. Test drivers said the navigation is a bit difficult to use.
