2015 Volkswagen Jetta Overview

Is the 2015 Volkswagen Jetta a Good Used Car?

The 2015 Volkswagen Jetta is a good used compact car. The Jetta has a quality cabin, but it lacks many desirable features like a USB port, which isn’t even available as an option. Still, it offers more interior and trunk space than most competitors. The Jetta also has more powertrain options than most other cars in the class, from a turbodiesel and a hybrid to a couple of potent turbocharged four-cylinder engines. This is a very competitive class, however, and there are a lot of options to consider before you commit to this VW.

What Does Volkswagen's Certified Pre-Owned Warranty Cover?

Volkswagen offers a certified pre-owned program for vehicles seven years old or less and with fewer than 75,000 miles. You receive the balance of the new-car warranty when you purchase a CPO model, and depending on your car’s model year, you get a limited comprehensive warranty that takes effect once the new-car warranty has expired. For 2018 and newer VWs, the limited comprehensive warranty is good for one year or 12,000 miles. The length of the warranty increases to two years or 24,000 miles for 2017-and-older gas, hybrid, and electric vehicles. Finally, 2016 and older TDI vehicles get a two-year/unlimited miles warranty.

VW CPO vehicles must pass a 100-plus-point inspection. Additional benefits like towing, a Carfax vehicle history report, a three-month SiriusXM All-Access satellite radio trial subscription, and roadside assistance may be available, so read the Volkswagen warranty page carefully.

According to our analysis, Volkswagen’s CPO program is the least robust of all auto manufacturers.

2015 Volkswagen Jetta Versus the Competition

Which Is Better: 2015 Volkswagen Jetta or 2015 Volkswagen Passat?

The 2015 Volkswagen Passat is a midsize sedan, and it has a higher average price but more overall cabin space and a slightly larger trunk than the Jetta. Still, the Jetta isn’t short on interior or trunk space for a compact car. In fact, it’s one of the roomiest in the compact car class. Deciding between these two Volkswagen sedans comes down to how much space you need.

Which Is Better: 2015 Volkswagen Jetta or 2015 Toyota Corolla?

The 2015 Toyota Corolla has a lackluster engine, numb steering, and listless handling. However, it gets better fuel economy than the Jetta. The VW offers a more enjoyable experience from behind the wheel, with a more powerful base engine than the Corolla as well as stronger available engines. The Jetta is the better pick in this comparison.

2015 Volkswagen Jetta Performance

How Does the 2015 Volkswagen Jetta Drive?

The 2015 Jetta comes standard with a 115-horsepower four-cylinder engine. There are several available power plants, including a 170-horsepower turbocharged engine, a 150-horsepower turbodiesel in the Jetta TDI, a hybrid powertrain 170-horsepower in the Jetta Hybrid, and a 210-horsepower engine in the performance-tuned Jetta GLI.

TDI models were affected by VW’s diesel emissions scandal. They require modifications to meet EPA standards. Make sure these alterations have been made before you buy a Jetta TDI, and keep in mind that those changes could alter performance and fuel economy.

The base engine and manual transmission generate sufficient power for cruising around town. However, the available turbocharged engine produces greater power for highway driving and passing maneuvers. Depending on the model, the Jetta has a five-speed manual, a six-speed manual, or a six-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission. All earn praise for their refined performance. The Jetta has a comfortable ride and accurate steering that provides good road feedback.

Does the 2015 Volkswagen Jetta Get Good Gas Mileage?

The Jetta gets 22 mpg in the city and 33 mpg on the highway with the base engine and automatic transmission, which is a bit below average for a compact sedan.
