2011 Volkswagen CC Review

The 2011 Volkswagen CC is a stylish and upscale 2011 midsize car that offers pleasant, well-balanced handling. Keep in mind that while the CC is good-looking and fun to drive, its small trunk and four-seat cabin make it less practical the many used midsize cars.

2011 Volkswagen CC Overview

When it was new, reviewers liked the 2011 Volkswagen CC’s delivery of style in an otherwise bland segment. However, by attempting to win buyers over aesthetically, they said the CC sacrifices some of the practicality offered by other sedans, namely seating capacity and overall interior space. The CC also has excellent safety ratings.

The CC is available with either a 200-horsepower turbocharged four-cylinder engine or a 280-horsepower V6. While the V6 is stronger, most critics were pleased with the four-cylinder, saying that the smaller engine provides enough power to satisfy most people. It also yields a significant gain in fuel economy; four-cylinder models are front-wheel drive-only and net 22/31 mpg city/highway, which is quite good for the class. All-wheel drive V6 models get 17/25 mpg. A manual transmission is available on four-cylinder models, but many critics favored the dual-clutch automatic that’s available with the turbo four. The CC can carry up to 13 cubic feet of cargo in its trunk, which is a bit lower than the class average.

Critics said the CC’s interior is beautifully crafted and that its front seats are comfortable for the long haul. Some noted that the car’s sloping roofline blocks rear visibility and limits back-seat headroom. Remember that the CC only seats four, so it may not be ideal for families. Base Sport models are equipped with rain-sensing windshield wipers, Bluetooth and an iPod interface. Higher trims add features like leather seats, navigation, a power sunroof, backup camera, a 10-speaker Dynaudio stereo and dual-zone climate control.

Other Cars to Consider

If you like the CC for its style, you may also like the 2011 Volvo S60. The S60 has a good blend of handling and ride comfort, as well as an upscale interior. The S60 also offers a powerful engine and standard all-wheel drive. Additionally, it can seat five and has lots of safety features.

Like the CC, the highly-ranked 2011 Acura TL is available with front- and all-wheel drive. Reviewers said the AWD version has great handling, while base models are loaded with more standard features than a number of rival used cars. The TL is also a good choice for families, as it can seat up to five, though its trunk space is about the same as that of the CC.
