Buying Advice

Last Updated: March 22, 2019

Falling Sales: Sales of the Toyota Yaris, formerly the Yaris iA, sit in the upper half of the subcompact car class. However, sales figures have declined 20.5 percent so far in 2019 relative to the same period last year.

Below Average Prices: A base Yaris with an automatic transmission starts at $16,550, which is slightly below average for the class, excluding hybrid models. A top tier Yaris will cost $18,550, which is almost $3,000 below the class average for fully loaded models.

Time to Buy: With low sales and low prices, now is a good time to negotiate a price below sticker on a new Yaris. Consider purchasing a model with a manual transmission to save up to an additional $1,100. This month’s Toyota deals may help you save even more with special Toyota financing and lease offers. Another budget-friendly option is the well-ranked Kia Rio. The Rio's base price undercuts the Yaris' by $1,160 with an automatic transmission. For an even lower price, check out the 2018 Yaris iA. This month's Kia deals may help you find additional savings.
