2010 Toyota Sienna Interior Review

Note: This interior review was created when the 2010 Toyota Sienna was new.

Interior: 8.5

With passenger space for seven or eight and plenty of configurable cargo room, the Sienna is a versatile family hauler.

  • "...few creature comforts that Toyota's engineers have not thought of." -- Forbes
  • "Clear gauges, guess-free minor controls, though a few switches are scattered out of easy reach. CE/LE climate system uses four simple rotary knobs. XLE and Limited's three-zone setup adds button clutter, plus a display that's almost illegible in certain light conditions." -- Consumer Guide
  • "The Sienna's seats now feel more upscale, with some decent cushioning and good support. Toyota officials insist that they spent more money on the new seats, just because they are so important for comfort." -- MSN

Configured for seven, the Sienna's second row consists of two captain's chairs. Configured for eight, it consists of a bench. The LE come in either configuration (the eight-seat version will set you back an extra $170), while the other trims only come with the seven-seat setup. Reviewers find that even the third row is accessible and accommodating.

  • "Taller drivers will substantially enjoy the extra head room in the Toyota Sienna's front cabin compared to the average minivan." -- NewCars.com
  • "Bench or buckets, 2nd-row seats seem long-haul comfortable. Buckets can adjust to form a bench. They weigh about 55 lb each, and are cumbersome to remove or install. Adults have good head room without sunroof, OK clearance with. Second-row seats slide fore/aft; leg room gets tight if they're not well aft. Firm 3rd-row bench is kid-size but reasonably accessible, as 2nd-row seats double-fold to open fairly wide passage." -- Consumer Guide
  • "There's plenty of room for eight adults with a middle-row bench seat, or for seven with second-row bucket seats." -- MSN
  • "Third-row seat room is a little tight, but even adults won't be completely unhappy back there on short trips." -- Edmunds

Interior Features

Reviewers find the Sienna's interior to be feature-packed no matter the trim level. However, a few of them find fault with some of the fancier equipment, including the optional navigation system.

  • "Available in CE, LE, XLE, and XLE Limited models, the well-executed Sienna can be had as a basic family hauler or loaded with Lexus-grade premium content." -- Automobile Magazine.
  • "There are a few downsides, though. The 2010 Toyota Sienna lacks some of the high-end entertainment features that are available on the Chrysler Town & Country and Dodge Grand Caravan twins." -- Edmunds
  • "Each trim receives a great standard equipment list." -- Kelley Blue Book
  • "The Sienna's price can quickly run well into the luxury-car range if you pile on the bells and whistles, especially since many are offered only in costly option packages." -- Forbes

The Sienna offers good cargo space -- 148.9 cubic feet with the back rows folded down. With just the third row down, it offers 94.5 cubic feet, and with all seats up it offers 43.6 cubic feet of space behind the third row. Small storage spaces are scattered generously throughout the cabin.

  • "The Sienna provides a cavernous 149 cubic feet of maximum cargo capacity." -- Edmunds
  • "The mechanics to make the seating fold down are different, with the Sienna requiring a bit of 'oomph' from me to get the seat down while the seat in the Odyssey gets help from gravity and sort of drops into place." -- MSN
  • "We found the two gloveboxes, the large removable center console box and the 10 baggage hooks to be just the beginning of the hidden treasures found in the Sienna's nooks and crannies, and even noticed the handbag hook that designers placed on the side of the center stack in the passenger's footwell to prevent an unlatched purse from spilling its contents." -- Edmunds
