2015 Toyota Land Cruiser Overview

Is the 2015 Toyota Land Cruiser a Good Used SUV?

The 2015 Land Cruiser is a good used luxury large SUV if you want to be satisfied on both paved and unpaved roads. This SUV isn't afraid to go off the beaten path – and it will keep you comfortable while doing so. The Land Cruiser has a smooth drive and a luxurious interior. It also comes with a long list of standard features.

Used 2015 Toyota Land Cruiser Performance and Interior

The 2015 Land Cruiser comes standard with a 381-horsepower V8 engine and a six-speed automatic transmission. It has enough power for most situations, and the transmission has smooth shifts. The Land Cruiser gets 13 mpg in the city and 18 mpg on the highway, which is low for the class.

This SUV is a skilled off-roader with standard four-wheel drive. Its Multi-Terrain Select feature lets you choose from five modes – mud and sand, rock, rock and dirt, loose rock, and mogul – to get the best ride. Steering is precise and the ride is comfortable with little body lean, even over uneven roads. When properly equipped, the 2015 Land Cruiser can tow up to 8,200 pounds.

There is seating for eight in the 2015 Land Cruiser on standard leather seats. Other standard features include heated and ventilated front seats, power-adjustable front seats, heated second-row seats, a heated steering wheel, and a moonroof.

The first and second rows offer ample head- and legroom, but the third-row space is tight and best left to children. A complete system of lower anchors and tethers is located on the outboard second-row seats. There is also a tether on the middle second-row seat.

Standard features include push-button start, keyless entry, a rear-seat entertainment system, navigation, satellite radio, Bluetooth, a USB port, HD Radio, a 14-speaker sound system, a voice-activated Entune infotainment system with an 8-inch touch screen, and the Entune App Suite, which provides smartphone integration. The infotainment system is easy to use, but the touch controls can be slow to respond at times. The physical audio, climate, and navigation controls are within easy reach of the driver, and the gauges are easily visible.

The Land Cruiser's cargo space is somewhat small for the class, with 16.1 cubic feet behind the third row, 43 cubic feet behind the second row, and 81.7 cubic feet behind the first row.

Should I Consider Another Used Land Cruiser?

The 2015 Land Cruiser is part of the SUV's fifth generation, which started with the 2008 model and includes the 2017 model. The Land Cruiser received a refresh for the 2013 model year: most of its optional features became standard, including the infotainment system. There were few changes in the following model years, so you can save money by opting for a 2013 or 2014 model instead of a 2015 Land Cruiser.

Which Used Toyota Land Cruiser Is Right for Me?

The 2015 Land Cruiser only has one trim, but it comes chock full of standard features. These include leather upholstery, navigation, a rearview camera, voice recognition, a rear-seat entertainment system, and adaptive cruise control. There are no packages available.

You may consider spending a bit more money on a certified pre-owned Land Cruiser. Toyota provides a one-year/12,000-mile limited warranty on all of its CPO vehicles, and it extends the original new-car powertrain warranty to seven years or 100,000 miles. Each CPO Toyota must pass a 160-point inspection. Additional benefits like towing and roadside assistance may be available, so read the Toyota warranty page carefully.

2015 Toyota Land Cruiser and Other SUVs to Consider

Which Is Better: 2015 Toyota Land Cruiser or 2015 Land Rover Range Rover?

The Land Rover Range Rover has excellent off-roading capabilities like the Land Cruiser, but it also boasts more powerful available engines that range from 340 to 510 horsepower. The Range Rover comes with a long list of standard and available features, including an adaptive air suspension and four-wheel drive. It also has a luxurious interior, but it only seats five. Additionally, it has lower predicted reliability and a higher predicted cost of ownership, making the Land Cruiser the better SUV.

Which Is Better: 2015 Toyota Land Cruiser or 2015 Infiniti QX80?

The Infiniti QX80 has powerful acceleration and a strong V8 that makes 400 horsepower. The QX80 is nimble and has available all-wheel drive, but it isn't a skilled off-roader like the Land Cruiser. It has seating for seven with similar cargo space to the Toyota, and the interior is also high-quality. It comes with similar standard and available features, but its infotainment controls are difficult to reach, and some of the driver assistance features are more disruptive than helpful. Overall, the Land Cruiser is the better choice.

Which Is Better: 2015 Toyota Land Cruiser or 2015 Lexus GX?

The Lexus GX is a luxury midsize SUV that seats up to seven, but it only has 64.7 cubic feet of overall cargo space. Though its interior is well-built, the Land Cruiser's is more luxurious. The GX is powered by a 301-horsepower V8 engine that is fine around the city but struggles to accelerate on the highway. It has good off-road capabilities, though the Land Cruiser is more agile and has better handling. In the end, the Land Cruiser is the better all-around SUV.
