4) 2018 Toyota Sienna

U.S. News Safety Score: 8.8/10 | USN Overall Score 8.3/10 | $30,850

It might be surprising that the 2018 Toyota Sienna is in the bottom half of the minivan safety rankings. It does, after all, have more standard advanced safety features than any other van in this slideshow. Toyota Safety Sense P, which comes equipped in all models, includes adaptive cruise control, lane departure warning, forward collision warning, and pedestrian detection. Additional features like rear cross traffic alert and blind spot monitoring are optional.

The Sienna looks great with all those features, it didn’t do so well in testing. It received four out of five stars from the NHTSA in the frontal crash and rollover tests, and five out of five in the side crash test. Overall, the NHTSA did award it five out of five stars. The IIHS rated the Sienna Good in four of its tests. However, the Toyota earned a score of Acceptable in the driver’s side small overlap test and Poor in the passenger side small overlap test.
