The Safest Small Cars

The safest small cars – The 2016 Honda Civic, 2016 Scion iA, and 2016 Subaru WRX– contain all the basic safety features, including an array of air bags, four-wheel antilock braking, electronic stability control, and traction control, and are engineered and built with the latest safety testing in mind.

The trio put those features to good use: Each car scored a “Good” rating on all five tests run by the IIHS. Those exercises consist of the moderate overlap frontal test, in which a vehicle travels toward a barrier at 40 mph; the small overlap frontal test, in which the vehicle travels at the same speed toward a taller and narrower barrier; a side impact test; a rear collision test; and a roof strength test.

The Scion iA gets renamed for the 2017 model year. It becomes the Toyota Yaris iA.
