2013 Suzuki Grand Vitara Overview

The 2013 Grand Vitara has a four-cylinder engine that is paired with either a standard manual transmission or an available automatic. Reviewers complained that the engine could use more power and that the automatic transmission is very slow to shift. With the automatic transmission and rear-wheel drive (four-wheel drive is available), the 2013 Grand Vitara gets an EPA-estimated 19/25 mpg city/highway, which is low for the class. While several reviewers pointed out that the Grand Vitara is a competent off-roader, most agreed that its on-road ride is uncomfortable and that its handling isn't very composed.

According to most reviewers, the 2013 Suzuki Grand Vitara’s interior is basic and outdated. Test drivers reported that the seats are spacious and most controls on the center stack are easy to use. The Grand Vitara's overall cargo space is good for the class, however, critics pointed out that it can be tricky to open the Grand Vitara’s side-opening cargo door if there is a vehicle parked closely behind. The number of standard features is good for the class and includes Bluetooth, a touch-screen navigation system and a USB port. A rearview camera and leather upholstery are available.

Other SUVs to Consider

The 2013 Subaru Forester has standard all-wheel drive and plenty of capability for tackling foul weather and dirt roads, according to most reviewers. It has a good amount of cargo space for the class, and reviewers liked its spacious seating and powerful available turbocharged four-cylinder engine.

The 2013 Honda CR-V has a comfortable, car-like ride, reviewers say. The CR-V gets better fuel economy than the Grand Vitara and according to test drivers, its abundance of passenger and cargo space makes it a very practical vehicle.
