2007 Suzuki Forenza Review

Note: This review was created when the 2007 Suzuki Forenza was new.

The Forenza is a basic, budget-friendly car for around-town travel, but lacks the safety and engine power of others in its class. If you're in the market for an affordable small car, you should also consider the Honda Civic and Honda Fit.

Pros & Cons

  • More interior and cargo room than others in its class
  • Attractive exterior styling
  • Affordable pricing paired with an outstanding powertrain warranty
  • Significantly less engine power than others in its class
  • Reviews on handling performance produced a mixed response
  • Mediocre crash test ratings

2007 Suzuki Forenza Overview

For an economy car, the 2007 Suzuki Forenza offers a spacious interior, but little else to differentiate it from the competition.  On the positive side, most reviewers agree with Consumer Guide, which describes the Forenza as having "an impressive list of standard features" and being "roomier than most compact-sedan rivals."  On the negative side, engine performance and fuel economy fall to the bottom of the Forenza's class.

Suzuki markets the Forenza, above all, on its price tag.  New Car Test Drive says that "the Forenza sedan is designed to offer a strong value in a sea of value-priced compact sedans." Kelley Blue Book adds, "If you're looking for an alternative to the higher-priced Japanese imports, as well as a hint of European flavoring both inside and out, the Forenza deserves a good look." But with an underpowered engine and a base price rivaled by the higher rated Honda Fit and Mazda3, among others, the Forenza has a tough climb to prove its worth.

IntelliChoice gives the 2007 Suzuki Forenza four-door sedan a value rating of "poor" for its predicted five-year cost of ownership compared to other vehicles in its class, primarily due to poor resale values.

The 2007 Suzuki Forenza is available as a sedan and as a wagon. The sedan comes in one trim level, with two optional packages: the "Convenience" package and the "Popular" package. The Forenza is available with either a manual or an automatic transmission.
