2011 Subaru Legacy Overview

Auto critics liked the 2011 Subaru Legacy’s large interior, good fuel economy and enjoyable powertrain. Standard all-wheel drive helps the 2011 Legacy stand out in its class, and auto critics were happy with its handsome looks. The Legacy also earns good safety scores.

On the opposite end of the spectrum, a few reviewers noticed some poor-fitting materials inside the Legacy. Some test drivers also noted that the Legacy was underpowered and slow to accelerate when equipped with the base engine.

The 2011 Subaru Legacy is available with four- and six-cylinder engines, as well as a turbo four. A six-speed manual transmission is standard and a five-speed automatic and continuously variable transmission (CVT) are also available, depending on the trim level. The Legacy gets up to 23/31 mpg city/highway with the base four-cylinder engine. Standard features on the base Legacy include automatic headlights, cruise control and a four-speaker stereo. Features like heated seats, dual-zone climate control, navigation, Bluetooth and an upgraded stereo with a USB port were available on higher trims or as options when the Legacy was new. Six airbags, anti-lock brakes, traction control and electronic stability control round out the 2011 Legacy’s list of standard features.

Other Cars to Consider

Though not a standard feature like on the Legacy, the 2011 Suzuki Kizashi is available with all-wheel drive. Reviewers really liked the Kizashi’s sporty handling, saying that it is extremely fun to drive for a 2011 midsize car. Unlike the Legacy, the Kizashi is only available with a four-cylinder engine, so shoppers who prefer the power of a turbo four or six-cylinder engine will have to look elsewhere. Like the 2011 Legacy, the 2011 Kizashi has very high safety scores.

The 2011 Honda Accord doesn’t offer all-wheel drive, but it has high safety scores and slightly better fuel economy than the Legacy. Reviewers agreed that the Accord’s interior fit and finish is among the best in the class, and they liked its spacious interior.
