2013 Subaru BRZ Review

Pros & Cons

  • Minimal body lean in turns
  • Sharp steering
  • Comfortable front seats
  • Less trunk space than many rivals

2013 Subaru BRZ Overview

With its four-cylinder engine, reviewers agreed that the 2013 BRZ has plenty of power and feels light on its feet. A six-speed manual transmission is standard, and reviewers said it has a fluid, precise shift action and a smooth clutch. A six-speed automatic is available, which auto journalists agreed is responsive. At 22/30 mpg city/highway, the 2013 Subaru BRZ's fuel economy is similar to the fuel economy of other four-cylinder sports cars. Reviewers agreed that agile handling is the BRZ's forte, with precise steering, minimal body roll through sharp corners and an overall engaging driving experience. Others added that the BRZ is plenty comfortable to serve as a daily driver.

Automotive journalists wrote that the 2013 Subaru BRZ's cabin is handsome and the materials used are nicely textured. They reported that the front seats are supportive under hard cornering, and some said the rear seats are fairly small, though this is common for the class. There is 6.9 cubic feet of trunk space, which is pretty small for the class, however folding the rear seatbacks down expands cargo space. HD Radio, Bluetooth, a USB port and an auxiliary input jack are standard. Available features include dual-zone automatic climate control and leather seats. Reviewers found the 2013 BRZ's center stack controls straightforward and easy to operate.

Reviewers really liked the 2013 Mazda Miata's athletic handling, communicative steering and slick manual transmission. They said its four-cylinder engine delivers ample power and agreed that it is a very fun car to drive.
