2013 Scion tC Overview

Reviewers said the four-cylinder 2013 Scion tC offers plenty of power. The standard six-speed manual transmission is easy to shift and makes the best use of the engine’s power, they noted, though the available six-speed automatic makes the tC feel more sluggish. The 2013 tC gets an EPA-estimated 23/31 mpg city/highway with either transmission, which is a bit low for the class. Some reviewers said the 2013 Scion tC has strong brakes and controlled handling, making it an enjoyable car to drive. However, others wrote that numb steering and a softly sprung suspension result in driving dynamics that are somewhat bland.

Test drivers weren’t very impressed with the 2013 Scion tC’s cabin, saying it's outfitted with budget materials. The tC seats five, and many critics noted that there’s plenty of legroom in the cabin, even in the back seat, which will accommodate taller adults. At 14.7 cubic feet, the two-door tC has a substantial amount of cargo space compared to rival coupes. Reviewers were quite impressed with the tC’s generous list of standard features, which include Bluetooth, an eight-speaker Pioneer CD audio system, HD Radio, an auxiliary input, a USB port, a panoramic sunroof, and a steering wheel that tilts and telescopes. When it was new, available dealer-installed accessories included satellite radio, an upgraded audio system, interior mood lighting and remote start. The automotive press said the tC has a cutting-edge audio system that sounds great and that Bluetooth is a breeze to set up.

Other Cars to Consider

The 2013 Honda Civic coupe gets much better fuel economy ratings than the tC. Test drivers said the Civic coupe’s interior feels upscale thanks to quality materials, and they especially liked the nimble handling that the Civic Si offers.

Reviewers said the 2013 Mini Cooper offers sprightly acceleration, especially if you’re considering a turbocharged Cooper S or John Cooper Works model. They also praised the Cooper’s strong brakes, precise steering and exceptional maneuverability.
