2012 Scion tC Review
Reviewers said the 2012 Scion tC provides a pleasant driving experience, but many felt that other coupes are more fun to drive.
Most test drivers said that the tC's four-cylinder engine has plenty of power and its automatic and manual transmissions are smooth and precise. They were also pleased with the tC’s overall handling, saying it is composed through turns and generally comfortable. The tC achieves fuel economy estimates of 23/31 mpg city/highway, which is somewhat low for the class. Still, some reviewers reported that the Scion tC doesn’t feel as fast or agile as its sporty styling suggests.
The tC’s cabin quality was somewhat disappointing to auto critics, who observed that the dash and other interior panels are constructed with hard plastics. Test drivers wrote that headroom for taller drivers is lacking, but otherwise, most found the tC’s front seats comfortable and supportive. Some reviewers even said the back seat, though difficult to access, is reasonably spacious as well. The 2012 tC comes standard with a Pioneer stereo with USB and auxiliary inputs, Bluetooth, HD Radio and a panoramic sunroof. The tC offers 14.7 cubic feet of cargo space, which is more than what is available in the Honda Civic coupe, and overall good for a small coupe.
Other Cars to Consider
Reviewers regarded the Ford Focus as one of the most fun cars to drive in the class. If you frequently have back-seat passengers, the Focus’ four-door body style might make more sense.
The Honda Civic is available as a coupe, and reviewers liked the more powerful Si trim, which they said offers agile handling and a delightful manual transmission.
