2010 Scion tC Interior Review
Note: This interior review was created when the 2010 Scion tC was new.
Scorecard
Most reviews say that the Scion tC has comfortable seating, adequate cargo room and interesting design features. But there are mixed impressions of the tC's cabin quality, and several writers complain about the lack of head- and legroom in both the coupe's rows.
- "The interior affords surprising luxury and space for a coupe." -- Motor Trend
- "The look and feel of the tC interior might be described as 'Lexus-light,' with a pleasantly refined cabin." -- BusinessWeek
- "Cabin materials are impressive for the price, with nicely textured plastics on the dashtop and high-quality cloth upholstery." -- Consumer Guide
Front Seats
Test drivers say the tC's front seats are supportive and comfortable, but there isn't a lot of leg- or headroom for the driver.
- "The tilt wheel and a height-adjustable driver's seat help provide a comfortable driving position for people of various sizes. There's a large rest area for a driver's left foot -- something that will be especially appreciated on long drives." -- MSN
- "Scant headroom for taller drivers." -- Edmunds
- "The driver seat adjusts for height and thigh support -- a nice touch -- but legroom is only adequate, and headroom is tight for taller adults. The low stance forces a deep drop into the seats, hampering entry and exit." -- Consumer Guide
- "Drivers taller than six feet may feel cramped behind the wheel." -- Kelley Blue Book
Rear Seats
Most writers say the tC doesn't offer abundant room in its second row, but the space is passable for a coupe, and headroom is good, as long as you are less than six feet tall.
- "The rear seat is more habitable than most small coupes, though it is shaped only for two and legroom is tight without the front seats well forward. Headroom is surprisingly good for those under 6 feet, helped by seatbacks that recline a few inches." -- Consumer Guide
- "The 2010 Scion tC also boasts a cleanly styled cabin with an accommodating rear seat. Two adults can fit back there, a rare feat for a car of this nature, and the seatback even reclines." -- Edmunds
- "Don't try to get adults back there unless you're planning a kidnapping." -- About.com
Interior Features
Reviewers find the 2010 tC's cabin has plenty of quirky design elements to draw in younger buyers, but have differing impressions of the quality of the materials.
- "The tC's interior features some upscale materials, though there's still plenty of hard plastic mixed in." -- Edmunds
- "Fit and finish are flawless, right down to the seamless dash-mounted airbag." -- Kelley Blue Book
- "Interior materials look more like rice paper than the traditional fake leather -- a nice concept, though we noticed a tendency to show every spot of dirt." -- BusinessWeek
- "The controls are mostly simple, handy, well-marked, and work with smooth action. Some testers find the shrouded instruments hard to see in certain light conditions." -- Consumer Guide
Stereo and Entertainment
The 2010 tC's Pioneer AM/FM/CD stereo earns the praise of many reviewers. The system is MP3 and satellite-radio ready, and features six speakers and two tweeters. In keeping with Scion's customization roots, the stereo also offers the opportunity for tC drivers to download skins and images for the LCD faceplate.
- "The standard Pioneer sound system is crisp and powerful, but the head unit may frustrate some operators with its small buttons and busy faceplate." -- Edmunds
Cargo
The tC's 35.4 cubic feet of available cargo space with the rear seats folded is good for the class. Smaller storage is available in the tC's gaping glove box, four map pockets, bag hooks or two-tiered center console.
- "I would probably keep the rear seats folded flat for the extra cargo space. My golf clubs, for example, didn't fit in the trunk without folding the seats." -- The Auto Channel
- "The huge glove box is easy to reach, but the storage area below the hatch looks a bit squat." -- Cars.com
