2010 Scion tC Overview

Like the rest of the Scion lineup, the 2010 Scion tC distinguishes itself by having more standard features than its classmates. The tC is available in just one well-equipped trim, and comes with a moonroof, air conditioning, power windows and door locks and a Pioneer stereo with auxiliary and USB ports. An upgraded Pioneer stereo and navigation system were optional when the tC was new. The tC also has a rare-for-the-class driver’s knee airbag and anti-lock brakes. However, you can’t get electronic stability control, and its crash test ratings are on the low end for the class.

The Scion tC certainly looks sportier than many of its classmates, and car reviewers said its 2.4-liter four-cylinder engine makes the tC one of the livelier models in the class. This engine isn’t very fuel-efficient, though, and only gets up to 21/29 mpg city/highway.

The Scion tC has a lot of cargo space for a coupe, but the tC’s front and rear seats do lack legroom, which means that it’s not best for transporting a lot of people. As a result, shoppers who want a sporty coupe with a lot of features will be pleased with the 2010 Scion tC, but if you value good fuel economy ratings, passenger space and safety over those characteristics, another small car may be a better fit.

Other Cars to Consider

The 2010 Kia Forte is available as a sedan and a coupe. Though the Forte isn’t the fastest or most agile car in the class, it does have higher fuel economy ratings than the Scion tC, and is just fine for around-town and highway driving. Inside, the Forte’s quality interior is equipped with a lot of tech features. The Forte also has higher safety scores and more standard safety features than the tC.

The highly-ranked 2010 Honda Civic is a lot more practical than the Scion tC. It has a responsive and fun ride for a small car, and its fuel economy ratings are significantly higher than the tC’s. Though the Civic has fewer standard tech features, it has good cargo space and a quality interior. Like the tC, the Civic’s second row is cramped, but it does have higher safety scores than the tC.
