Toyota’s Redesigned 2020 Highlander Hybrid Is Bold, Chiseled, and More Efficient

The Toyota Highlander began its reign as a sought-after, family-friendly SUV back in 2001. The automaker started offering it with a hybrid powertrain for the 2006 model year. The current iteration of the Highlander Hybrid boasts outstanding fuel efficiency, loads of standard safety equipment, and a luxury-grade cabin.

For the 2020 model year, the completely redesigned, fourth-generation Toyota Highlander Hybrid joins other recently redesigned Toyota vehicles, including its smaller sibling – the 2019 RAV4 Hybrid – on the Toyota New Global Architecture (TNGA) platform. According to the automaker, the new foundation improves the Highlander Hybrid’s safety, capability, and comfort.

In addition to the new platform, Toyota has upped the Highlander Hybrid’s appeal with a bolder stance, new safety features, improved fuel economy, and an available, class-topping 12.3-inch infotainment display. Also, for the first time ever, the Highlander Hybrid will be offered in a front-wheel-drive configuration to attract a new group of SUV shoppers.
