A Hefty Refresh and Some Surprising News

Even a classic design can get stale, especially when competitors are constantly pushing the boundaries of style and design. Eager to stay ahead of the curve, Ford is rolling out a significant midcycle refresh for the 2018 Mustang, even though the pony car was just redesigned for 2015. The car’s lines have been redrawn inside and out, and there are some interesting new mechanical features, too.

The big news, of course, is that Ford has finally gone ahead and dropped the entry-level V6 engine from the Mustang lineup, making the EcoBoost turbocharged four-cylinder the base engine. It’s a smart move on Ford’s part, since the EcoBoost is both more powerful and more efficient, but it’s sure to rattle some Mustang purists. No worries, though – the 5.0-liter V8 is still available, and even sees some upgrades.
