2014 Porsche Panamera Overview

Is the 2014 Porsche Panamera a Good Used Car?

The 2014 Porsche Panamera is a very good used super luxury car. It has a wide variety of powerful V6 and V8 engines, as well as Porsche’s first plug-in hybrid with a combined 416 horsepower. Handling is nimble, with lots of grip and great body control. The interior is roomy and has high-quality materials. Reliability is also good, but the Panamera does have a high ownership cost.

Used 2014 Porsche Panamera Performance and Interior

The Panamera offers a range of power, from a 310-horsepower V6 up to a 570-horsepower twin-turbocharged V8 that can hit 60 mph in 3.7 seconds. Also offered is a supercharged plug-in hybrid V6 in the S E-Hybrid that delivers a combined 416 horsepower with its electric motor and gas engine.

The base, S, and S E-Hybrid trims have standard rear-wheel drive. All-wheel drive is available. The remaining trims have standard all-wheel-drive systems. All models have a seven-speed dual-clutch transmission. The Panamera manages to combine a firm suspension with a comfortable ride. Its handling is nimble with lots of grip through corners. Also, there’s very little body lean in turns. The base model gets EPA fuel economy estimates of 18 mpg in the city and 28 mpg on the highway. The Panamera S E-Hybrid gets a combined 25 mpg from its gas engine, and its all-electric range is 15 miles.

There are four leather seats in the Panamera, with standard heat and power settings in the front. Some models have adaptive front and rear sport seats with greater side support, as well as cooled front seats and heated, cooled, power-adjustable rear seats. Long-wheelbase Executive models have almost 5 inches more rear legroom. The comfortable front and rear seats are supportive and have ample legroom – even in the regular-wheelbase body style. You’ll find complete LATCH child-seat systems in the rear seats.

The four-door Panamera comes standard with the Porsche Communication Management infotainment system, a navigation system, Bluetooth, and an 11-speaker audio system. The Panamera’s infotainment system uses buttons to control the audio and climate functions. They are confusing at first, but they’re easy to learn.

Should I Consider Another Used Panamera?

The 2014 Porsche Panamera is part of the car’s first generation, which launched for the 2010 model year. You might save money by opting for a 2013 Panamera, but you’ll find notable differences between the two. The 2013 Panamera S has a V8, not the twin turbo V6 in the 2014 model. Also, not all of the Executive trim long-wheelbase models were produced in 2013. The 2013 Hybrid S model was replaced in 2014 by the S E-Hybrid.

Which Used Porsche Panamera Is Right for Me?

The Porsche Panamera is available in five trims: Panamera, Panamera S, Panamera S E-Hybrid, Panamera GTS, and Panamera Turbo. Some trims also have Executive models that feature extended wheelbases, such as the 2014 Turbo S Executive.

Standard features include a multifunction steering wheel, an automatic rear hatch, automatic climate control, the Porsche Communication Management system, navigation, and an 11-speaker audio system. The Porsche Panamera S has Porsche Active Suspension Management and an extended fuel tank (all-wheel-drive version). The S E-Hybrid offers an adaptive air suspension management system and Porsche Car Connect. The Panamera GTS has a sport exhaust system and 18-way power sport seats. The Panamera Turbo gets 14-way power seats, heated rear and front seats, and remote key start.

Overall, the S trim is the best choice. Its active suspension management system provides three driving modes for engaged handling on different road conditions.

Even with the Panamera’s good reliability, you might want to consider a certified pre-owned model. For its certified pre-owned vehicles, Porsche extends the original new-car warranty to six years or 100,000 miles. If the CPO vehicle is past its original new-car warranty term (four years/50,000 miles), Porsche will cover the CPO vehicle for two years or 50,000 miles – though Porsche places total mileage limits on this warranty. Each CPO Porsche must pass a 111-point inspection. Additional benefits like towing and roadside assistance may be available, so read the Porsche warranty page carefully.

2014 Porsche Panamera and Other Cars to Consider

Which Is Better: 2014 Porsche Panamera or 2014 Mercedes-Benz S-Class?

The 2014 Mercedes-Benz S-Class bests the Panamera with more powerful engines. The S-Class is also unmatched when it comes to interior comfort and refinement. It has lots of wood and leather trim, intricately stitched leather, and ambient lighting. The Mercedes also has 10 inches more rear legroom than the Porsche.

Which Is Better: 2014 Porsche Panamera or 2014 Audi A8?

The 2014 Audi A8 has a wide range of powerful gas engines like the Panamera, but it can’t match the Porsche’s handling. What makes the A8 the better choice, though, is a sumptuous interior on par with more expensive sedans, as well as a material quality exceeded only by Bentley and Rolls-Royce. The A8 also has significantly lower ownership costs.
