2010 Porsche Cayman Overview

The 2010 Porsche Cayman is a fixed-roof version of the highly-acclaimed Porsche Boxster. Praised for its strong powertrain options and superb handling, as well as its sleek exterior design and superb interior finish, the 2010 Porsche Cayman is a popular choice among luxury sports cars. "This is the sort of car that you wear like a tailored suit," writes the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel "The driver's seat envelops you, the steering wheel, pedals and shifter are placed where you expect to find them, and the car feeds back marvelous tactile sensations that are rare and special in the driving experience."

Other Sports Cars to Consider

If you’re in the market for a luxury, two-passenger sports car, check out the Mercedes-Benz SLK. It can't match the power or crisp handling of the 2010 Porsche Cayman, but it is luxurious and sharp looking. It also features a retractable hard top -- so it can pass for both a coupe and convertible. Best of all, it starts at $4,500 less than the 2010 Porsche Cayman.

If you're willing to sacrifice luxury for hardcore sports performance, be sure to test drive the Chevrolet Corvette. Equipped with a 430-horsepower 6.2-liter V8 engine, the Corvette is more powerful than the 2010 Porsche Cayman. It's also a marvelous performer. However, it lacks much of the luxury and panache that the 2010 Porsche Cayman has.

Details: 2010 Porsche Cayman

Having been refreshed in ’09, the Porsche Cayman carries into 2010 unchanged. It’s available in two trims: the base Cayman and more powerful Cayman S.

  • "If the 911 Carrera is Porsche's flagship, then the Cayman is the fleet's gunboat. With its crisp lines and superb mid-engine balance, the Cayman could easily outperform the Carrera if Zuffenhausen gave the okay." -- Road and Track
  • "Lithe on the road, fluidly seductive in appearance, and positively alive in your hands: It's now, in my humble opinion, very simply the best sports car in the world." -- Motor Trend
  • "The (base) Porsche Cayman still presses all the right buttons for me. It's one of those cars whose sensory rewards outweigh its high price. At first blush, a $55,000 coupe with only 265 horsepower seems a little silly - you get more ponies in a base Chevrolet Camaro at half the price. But the Cayman feels quicker than many cars with more power both because of its low weight and its good midrange torque. As ever, the satisfaction in driving this Porsche isn't derived from massive acceleration. It's the feeling of precision that does it." -- Car and Driver
  • "Some less-expensive sports cars challenge Cayman on a fun-per-dollar basis, and some like-priced competitors deliver more outright power. Few, however, match this Recommended pick's range of strengths: road manners and mechanical sophistication to satisfy the most discriminating driver, a good dose of everyday usability, and the cachet of the Porsche name." -- Consumer Guide
