Used 2014 Porsche Cayenne Performance and Interior

The all-wheel-drive Porsche Cayenne is powered by a 300-horsepower V6 engine that generates decent power. However, for more satisfying highway acceleration, consider one of the Cayenne’s several available engines, including the Cayenne GTS’ 420-horsepower V8 or the twin-turbocharged V8s in the Cayenne Turbo and Turbo S, which produce 500 and 550 horsepower, respectively. The Cayenne Diesel comes with a 240-horsepower turbodiesel V6. A six-speed manual transmission is standard, and an eight-speed automatic is available in the base model and standard in higher trims. The base Cayenne with an automatic transmission gets decent fuel economy estimates of 17 mpg in the city and 23 mpg on the highway. The Cayenne’s composure, quick steering, and cornering ability make it a blast to drive.

Should I Consider Another Used Cayenne?

The 2014 Porsche Cayenne is a part of the SUV's second generation, which spans from 2011 through the 2017 model years. The Turbo S trim was introduced for 2014. Which Used Porsche Cayenne Is Right for Me?

The 2014 Porsche Cayenne is available in six trims: base, S, Diesel, GTS, Turbo, and Turbo S. The Cayenne S Hybrid is reviewed separately. Most shoppers will want to skip the base trim because it has modest engine power and just a few standard features, including a 10-speaker stereo system, a 7-inch touch-screen display screen, Bluetooth, and dual-zone automatic climate control. The Cayenne S trim provides the best value, offering a strong V8 engine and an all-wheel-drive traction control system. The Cayenne S also adds an auxiliary input and a moonroof. Cayenne GTS, Turbo, and Turbo S models are best left to shoppers who have a flexible budget and want sports-car-like performance from an SUV.

Porsche also offers CPO vehicles. For its certified pre-owned vehicles, Porsche extends the original new-car warranty to six years or 100,000 miles. If the CPO vehicle is past its original new-car warranty term (four years/50,000 miles), Porsche will cover the CPO vehicle for two years or 50,000 miles – though Porsche places total mileage limits on this warranty. Each CPO Porsche must pass a 111-point inspection. Additional benefits like towing and roadside assistance may be available, so read the Porsche warranty page carefully.

2014 Porsche Cayenne and Other Cars to Consider

Which Is Better: 2014 Porsche Cayenne or 2014 Lexus RX 350?

If you want function over fun, the Lexus RX 350 is the way to go. It has a perfect reliability score, a luxurious cabin, and lots of cargo space. The Lexus RX isn't quite as spry as the Cayenne, but it has composed handling and a comfortable ride. For 2014, the RX 350 was named our Best 2-Row SUV for the Money and Best Luxury 2-Row SUV for Families.

Which Is Better: 2014 Porsche Cayenne or 2014 BMW X5?

The BMW X5 is another great performer in the class, offering sporty driving dynamics and a number of strong engines. The Cayenne is more reliable, but the X5 gives you more options, including an available third row and an abundance of standard and available features that the Cayenne doesn't have.
