2019 Porsche Cayenne Hybrid Interior Review

Scorecard

Interior: 8.1

The 2019 Porsche Cayenne Hybrid looks great and features premium materials throughout, and the control layout makes life easy on the driver. The seats are roomy and supportive, and the infotainment system is fairly easy to use. Cargo space is below average for the class.

  • "Inside, there's 15 percent more cargo room with the rear seats up and more technology and functionality at your fingertips, but in general terms the new Cayenne's interior execution is, like the exterior, also evolutionary. Signature Cayenne design elements such as the center-mounted grab handles sit adjacent to the stuff repurposed from the Panamera. It's all familiar but sharper, more focused." -- Motor Trend
  • "… the cabin is easy to get accustomed to, with typically impeccable Porsche construction and materials." -- Autoweek

Seating

The Cayenne Hybrid seats five and comes standard with partial leather upholstery and eight-way power-adjustable front seats. There are two full sets of LATCH connectors for installing car seats.

Full leather upholstery, front sport seats with added power adjustability, heated and ventilated front seats, massaging front seats, heated and ventilated rear seats, and a heated steering wheel are available.

You get nothing but good seating options in the Cayenne Hybrid. Both rows of seats are comfortable, supportive, and spacious. You can fit three adults in the back, and they'll have enough legroom even if relatively tall people sit up front. However, some competitors have three rows of seats to this Porsche's two.

  • "This is an easy vehicle to get comfortable with, something we haven't always been able to say about Porsches. Even without the massage function, front seats are comfortable and supportive, with room in the back for three actual adults." - Automobile Magazine
  • "Interior space is a Cayenne high point -- both front and rear seats provide ample space even with multiple six-footers on board." -- Autoweek

Interior Features

Standard features in the Cayenne Hybrid include dual-zone automatic climate control, Bluetooth, five USB ports, a Wi-Fi hot spot, a 10-speaker audio system, satellite radio, HD Radio, front and rear parking sensors, a rearview camera, and the Porsche Communication Management infotainment system with a 12.3-inch touch screen, navigation, and Apple CarPlay.

Available features include a panoramic sunroof, a 14-speaker Bose audio system, a 21-speaker Burmester audio system, quad-zone automatic climate control, and a rear-seat entertainment system. Available features include lane change assist, night vision assist, adaptive cruise control, a surround-view camera, and a head-up display.

The redesigned Cayenne Hybrid gets some notable infotainment upgrades, including a standard 12.3-inch screen that is larger than most competitors' offerings. It's easy to see and reach from the driver's seat. There's a bit of a learning curve with the interface, but it's not too steep, and the overall system is generally user-friendly.

  • "Inside, the E-Hybrid has just the right amount of electro-information; it doesn't club you over the head with pointed suggestions that you are wasting energy, but you can monitor how you are doing. The instrument panel is modern and viewer-friendly, and the big, mostly horizontal center screen is an effective focal point for the rest of the dashboard. This is an easy vehicle to get comfortable with, something we haven't always been able to say about Porsches." -- Automobile Magazine
  • Porsche's new menu structure has yet to be ingrained in our subconscious, and it seems generally as though there is at least one layer too many to the various menus. And, through other experience with the same system in the Panamera, we wish the volume wheel was backlit at night. But owners will likely overcome the learning curve." -- Car and Driver
  • Like the regular Cayenne (and Panamera for that matter), the E-Hybrid eschews a sea of buttons in favor of a slick looking panel with illuminated controls. The panel does click, but it's not quite as easy-to-use as traditional hard buttons. Ultimately, we prefer this to having everything deeply hidden in some touchscreen menu." -- Autoblog

Cargo

This Porsche gives you 27.1 cubic feet of cargo space behind the rear seats and 60.3 cubic feet with the rear seats folded down. Most competitors provide more cargo room. On the bright side, the Cayenne Hybrid's cargo hold is wide and deep, so you shouldn't have trouble loading and organizing your stuff, and the hybrid battery doesn't interfere with the cargo space. A power liftgate comes standard.

  • More importantly, from a cargo carrying perspective, you'd never know this Cayenne was a plug-in hybrid. The battery module is stashed well below the cargo load floor, and there's ample height and depth for luggage, dogs or whatever else you'd want to throw in the back." -- Autoweek
