2014 Porsche Cayenne Hybrid Overview

Is the 2014 Porsche Cayenne Hybrid a Good Used SUV?

If you’re shopping for a reliable luxury midsize SUV, the 2014 Porsche Cayenne Hybrid is a good option. However, if fuel efficiency is a top priority, you can get better estimates with comparable rivals. The Cayenne Hybrid has pleasant driving dynamics, but it’s not as fun to drive as its nonhybrid counterpart. If you want high-tech features, you may need to shop around for a model that has them.

Used 2014 Porsche Cayenne Hybrid Performance and Interior

The all-wheel-drive Porsche Cayenne S Hybrid is powered by a supercharged V6 engine and an electric motor that together produce 380 horsepower and snappy acceleration from a stop. An eight-speed automatic transmission is standard. Fuel economy is rated at 20 mpg in the city and 24 mpg on the highway. While that’s good for the class, it’s on the low end compared to the estimates of hybrid rivals like the Lexus RX 450h. Additionally, the Cayenne Hybrid's fuel numbers aren’t much better than the nonhybrid Cayenne's estimates of 17 mpg in the city and 23 mpg on the highway. The Porsche Cayenne Hybrid has a comfortable ride and grips the road through turns. However, like many hybrid vehicles, its regenerative brakes feel overly sensitive. Additionally, the Cayenne Hybrid’s steering lacks feedback.

The five-seat 2014 Porsche Cayenne Hybrid's cabin is well-crafted with first-rate materials and attractive finishes. Its front seats are roomy and supportive, and there is plenty of room for adults in the second row. Although the Cayenne Hybrid’s numerous buttons can seem overwhelming, their logical layout makes them easy to use. At up to 59.7 cubic feet, the 2014 Cayenne Hybrid offers less cargo space than most other luxury midsize SUVs.

The Cayenne Hybrid doesn’t have many standard features. It comes with Bluetooth phone connectivity, a 10-speaker audio system, a 7-inch touch screen, and dual-zone automatic climate control. Available features include navigation and the Porsche Communication Management system.

Should I Consider Another Used Cayenne Hybrid?

The Porsche Cayenne was introduced for the 2012 model year. The 2014 Cayenne isn’t much different than earlier models, so you might want to opt for a similarly equipped 2012 or 2013 model to save money. If your budget allows, you should also check out the Porsche Cayenne S E-Hybrid, which debuted for 2015. This plug-in hybrid comes with more standard features than the 2014 Cayenne Hybrid, including a rearview camera, navigation, and parking sensors.

Choosing the right Cayenne Hybrid is simple, as there is just one trim level. Standard equipment in the 2014 Porsche Cayenne Hybrid includes Bluetooth phone connectivity, a 10-speaker audio system, a 7-inch touch screen, and dual-zone automatic climate control.
