Should I Consider Another Used Boxster?

The 2014 Porsche Boxster marks the second year of the two-seat roadster’s third generation. You might want to consider a 2013 Boxster, as it is not significantly different from the 2014 model but will likely cost less. The 330-horsepower Boxster GTS was introduced for 2015; it’s worth considering if you seek more horsepower.

Which Used Porsche Boxster Is Right for Me?

The 2014 Porsche Boxster is available in two trims: base and S. Aside from their engines, little separates the two models. The Boxster is loaded with performance attributes and features like partial-leather power seats, a multifunction display, and an infotainment system with a 7-inch touch screen. The S trim adds auto-leveling high-intensity discharge headlights; larger wheels; larger, more potent brakes; and cosmetic touches, like red brake calipers. You’ll find the base Boxster a good choice, as it has the creature comforts and performance one would expect from a car in this class.

You may also want to consider a certified pre-owned Boxster. For its certified pre-owned vehicles, Porsche extends the original new-car warranty to six years or 100,000 miles. If the CPO vehicle is past its original new-car warranty term (four years/50,000 miles), Porsche will cover the CPO vehicle for two years or 50,000 miles – though Porsche places total mileage limits on this warranty. Each CPO Porsche must pass a 111-point inspection. Additional benefits like towing and roadside assistance may be available, so read the Porsche warranty page carefully.

2014 Porsche Boxster and Other Cars to Consider

The 2014 Porsche Boxster is only available as a convertible. The 2014 Porsche Cayman is its hardtop equivalent. The two share similar platforms, engines, and equipment.

Which Is Better: 2014 Porsche Boxster or 2014 BMW Z4?

The 2014 BMW Z4 is a good luxury roadster – it’s just not the sports car the 2014 Porsche Boxster is. The Boxster’s six-cylinder engine is more powerful than the Z4’s four-cylinder engine. The Porsche is also much more nimble than the BMW on curvy back roads. The BMW has a hardtop convertible, while the Porsche uses a cloth top. Both have quality interiors befitting their luxury status. The Boxster is the better choice because of its performance. However, the Z4 has lower total ownership costs.

Which Is Better: 2014 Porsche Boxster or 2014 Chevrolet Corvette?

The 2014 Chevy Corvette, available as a convertible or hardtop, bests the Boxster convertible in raw power, churning out nearly 200 more horsepower and more than double the torque of the Porsche. The Vette’s tenacious grip rivals what the Boxster puts down. The Corvette can’t match the Boxster’s near-perfect reliability score, but it does offer a lower total cost of ownership. Both cars are winners. The choice may well come down to which you prefer driving – the front-end-engine Corvette, or the midengine Boxster.
