Brawn, Brash Styling, and Big Price Tags. These Cars Have It All

New York City, America’s financial capital, is the perfect place to show the world’s most exclusive, luxurious, and innovative rides. While much of the 2018 New York Auto Show, focused on more practical debuts, like the completely redesigned 2019 Toyota RAV4 and Nissan Altima, there was still room on the show floor for some good-old-fashion horsepower wars, off-road shenanigans, and opulence.

We’ve defined “extravagant” in this article somewhat broadly. Our definition includes the Range Rover SC Coupe – a $300,000 two-door SUV with huge back seats and serious off-road credentials. There’s also the new GMC Sierra AT4 – a factory-built off-road edition of the Sierra pickup with a 2-inch lift kit. Of course, you can’t have an article about extravagant cars without a supercar; enter the Bugatti Chiron Sport – a 1,500-horsepower, $3.26 million coupe that made its North American debut at the New York Auto Show.

There is a practical side to all of this: These range-topping rides bear the new infotainment, performance, and safety technologies that you will be seeing in more mainstream models at your local dealer in the next few years, and beyond.
