The Waco Motorcycle Gang Shootout

In the spring of 2015, a bunch of motorcyclists from rival gangs converged on a Twin Peaks restaurant in Waco, TX. Witnesses said that it was supposed to be a friendly meeting, but it turned into a shootout and knife fight that killed nine people and injured 18 others.

Fortunately, police arrived quickly and broke up the scene. 170 arrests were eventually made. According to informants, tensions were already high amongst the rival motorcycle gangs (mainly the Bandidos, Cossacks, and Scimitars), due to a long history of criminal activity and turf wars. Some gang members who talked to the media implied that it was only a matter of time before it all boiled over, even as many professed their own innocence in the fray. Of course, in a fight of this size, there’s no way of knowing specifics about any of the motorcycles involved, nor does it really matter. Still, there’s one key lesson to be learned: it’s probably best not to join a motorcycle gang.
