2010 Nissan Sentra Overview

The 2010 Nissan Sentra is a practical commuter car with comfortable seats and good trunk space. The Sentra has a typical amount of standard features for the class, including a stereo with an auxiliary input jack and air conditioning, but you can get a model with navigation (2010 is the first year the Sentra was available with navigation), Bluetooth and a USB port.

The Sentra also gets good fuel economy, averaging up to 26/34 mpg city/highway. Reviewers said that the base 140-horsepower, 2.0-liter four-cylinder engine has an adequate amount of power. The SE-R and SE-R Spec V models have a 2.5-liter, four-cylinder engine that makes 60 more horsepower than the base model. Overall, however, reviewers said the 2010 Sentra’s performance is mediocre.

Although the Sentra has above-average safety scores, it doesn’t come with many standard safety features. Anti-lock brakes, which are a common feature on most small cars, traction and electronic stability control don’t come with the base model, though you can get them on higher trims.

Other Cars to Consider

For a sedan with a lot of passenger and trunk space, as well as higher safety scores, consider the 2010 Hyundai Elantra. It earned the 2010 U.S. News Best Compact Car for the Money award and has strong  safety scores. Like the Sentra, the Hyundai Elantra doesn’t have many standard interior or safety features, but there are a lot available on higher trims.

The 2010 Toyota Corolla is another practical pick if you want a used small car with adequate performance and good fuel economy. The Corolla also has a spacious second row and good trunk size for the class. While the Corolla has a basic list of standard interior features, it has more standard safety features than a lot of its competitors.
