2019 Nissan Rogue Interior Review

Interior: 7.6

The 2019 Nissan Rogue features a high-end cabin with quality materials and numerous safety and technology features. Additionally, the Rogue has plenty of passenger space and more cargo room than most competitors. For 2019, Nissan added new smartphone connectivity features, but the infotainment system's graphics and screen size look a bit dated.

  • "The Rogue’s interior only amplifies Nissan’s reputation for high-quality, stylish cabins. There are soft-touch surfaces, tight tolerances and attractive illumination." -- Kelley Blue Book
  • "Inside the Rogue, the interior materials certainly impress. While most rivals don't bother to conceal inexpensive touches, the Rogue offers high-end stitching and leather where you might expect to find plastic. That's even true on the base-level Rogue S, which certainly boasts a higher-quality interior than entry-level versions of most rival small crossovers." -- Autotrader (2018)
  • "You won't feel confined in the Rogue, whether in the front or back. The rear seats offer 9 inches of fore and aft adjustment, and both rows offer a good sense of space." -- Edmunds (2018)

There is seating for five people in this compact SUV. The front seats are roomy, supportive, and comfy, while the rear seats' tilting and sliding functionality help make the Rogue feel spacious in the back. Cloth upholstery is standard, and leather upholstery, heated front seats, a heated steering wheel, power-adjustable front seats, and a driver's seat with memory setting are available. The cabin is quiet, and the driver will enjoy good visibility all-around.

For securing child safety seats, there are two complete sets of LATCH connectors for the Rogue’s rear outboard seats, as well as an upper tether anchor for the rear middle seat. The Insurance Institute for Highway Safety gave the system the top rating of Good for ease of use.

  • "The leather-wrapped, fully adjustable flat-bottom steering wheel feels good in your hands, and its NASA-inspired ‘Zero Gravity’ front seats -- leather-clad in SL models -- are supportive and comfortable. Legroom and headroom are good in the first and second rows, with an EZ-Flex 40/20/40-split 2nd-row bench seat that tilts and slides fore and aft in non-hybrid models." -- Kelley Blue Book
  • "Though the Rogue's seat height is taller than that of some rivals, getting in and out is relatively easy. The doors open nice and wide, especially for rear passengers, revealing large entryways." -- Edmunds (2018)
  • Nissan offers its Zero Gravity front seats in the Rogue, and we found them to be more cossetting than most. There's good headroom in front but only fair legroom; in back, a higher seat cushion limits headroom under the available sunroof for 6-footers, while legroom is quite good, as is step-in height. In gas models, the rear seat moves fore and aft several inches to balance passenger and cargo room." -- Consumer Guide (2017)

Interior Features

The Rogue comes standard with lots of features, including a host of advanced safety features. A rearview camera, automatic emergency braking, pedestrian detection, intelligent lane intervention, high-beam assist, forward collision warning, lane departure warning, blind spot monitoring, and rear cross traffic alert all come standard in the 2019 Rogue. Other standard features include an infotainment system with a 7-inch touch screen, Android Auto, Apple CarPlay, Bluetooth, satellite radio, two USB ports, and a four-speaker audio system. Available features include a six- or nine-speaker audio system, dual-zone automatic climate control, push-button start, a navigation system, HD Radio, a panoramic moonroof, adaptive cruise control, ProPilot Assist semi-autonomous driving technology, rear parking sensors, rear automatic braking, and a 360-degree camera.

The infotainment system is fairly easy to use and features physical controls in addition to the touch screen. However, the touch screen is smaller than some reviewers would like, and its graphics could use an update

  • "The infotainment screen is on the small side and slightly out of reach for the driver. We've also had some iPhone pairing issues and intermittent crashes in which the system shut down and rebooted." -- Edmunds (2018)
  • "The NissanConnect infotainment system is in need of some refinement—or maybe more modern hardware. The screens look low-res, and pressing the touchscreen multiple times too quickly frequently triggers a buffering pop-up. When you're on the move, a system pausing to gather its wits is unacceptable." -- Car and Driver (2017)
  • By current standards, at least, Rogue also has a relatively simple control layout. The infotainment system has volume and tuning knobs along with a number of physical buttons, with other adjustments — such as station selection — being done on the touchscreen. Climate controls aren't quite as convenient, as only temperature gets its own rotary knob (still the best adjustment device ever invented), while fan speed and mode are by repetitive-step pushbuttons." -- Consumer Guide (2017)

The Rogue has one of the most expansive cargo areas among compact SUVs. There's 39.3 cubic feet of space behind the second row and 70 cubic feet with the second row folded down. A hands-free power liftgate is available, though some reviewers complain that it operates slowly.

  • "Cargo room for the non-hybrid Rogue is generous." -- Kelley Blue Book
  • "Also excellent is its interior room and cargo space." -- Autotrader (2018)
  • At 32 cubic feet with the second row up and 70 cubic feet with seats folded, the Rogue's cargo area is better than that of most rivals. The unique configurable cargo area gives it a further advantage, but the slow-operating power liftgate detracts from its convenience." -- Edmunds (2018)
