2010 Nissan Rogue Review

When it was new, reviewers said that a pleasant ride, versatile cargo space and better–than-average fuel economy were among the 2010 Nissan Rogue’s strongest traits. However, the Rogue is outranked by SUVs that offer better performance.

Pros & Cons

  • High-quality interior materials
  • Ample in-cabin storage
  • Strong safety scores
  • Underpowered four-cylinder engine
  • No V6 engine option

2010 Nissan Rogue Overview

Though reviewers who drove the 2010 Nissan Rogue thought it had satisfying handling, many complained about its four-cylinder engine and continuously variable transmission (CVT), saying that the Rogue was sluggish and noisy. As a result, reviewers agreed that the Rogue trails competitors like the 2010 Mazda CX-7 when it comes to performance. At up to 22/27 mpg city/highway, the Rogue gets fuel economy that’s about average for the class, and it also performed decently in crash tests.

Inside, reviewers found that the Rogue was upscale and had high-quality materials when it was new. However, test drivers said that even though the Rogue technically seats five, a cramped back seat means it is better suited for four passengers. Auto critics felt that the Rogue’s seats were comfortable and supportive, but some said the padding didn’t hold up over long trips. Still, reviewers liked the small-item storage spaces in the cabin and thought that the Rogue also has class-competitive cargo room.

Other Cars to Consider

If you’re considering the Rogue, you should also take a look at the 2010 Toyota RAV4. The RAV4 offers good performance, along with strong safety ratings. Both SUVs have comparable fuel economy, but the RAV4’s base engine is a bit more powerful than the Rogue’s. If you need more space, the RAV4 offers an available third-row seat and more cargo space than the Rogue.

The highly-ranked 2010 Hyundai Tucson is another good all-around compact SUV that offers good performance and outstanding safety scores. The Tucson’s base engine is slightly more powerful than the Rogue’s and gets better fuel economy. However, the Rogue has a little more cargo room.
