2010 Nissan Frontier Overview

When it was new, reviewers praised the 2010 Nissan Frontier for its refined ride and smooth engine choices. The Frontier comes standard with a four-cylinder engine that reviewers found sufficient for daily driving. However, many suggested the available V6, especially if you plan to use the Frontier for towing or hauling. The four-cylinder Frontier comes with rear-wheel drive and a manual transmission. An automatic transmission is available. V6 models are available with rear- or four-wheel drive, as well as a manual or automatic transmission. A rear-wheel drive Frontier with the four-cylinder engine and an automatic transmission achieves 17/22 mpg city/highway, which is slightly worse than the fuel economy of a similarly-equipped Toyota Tacoma. The Frontier can tow up to 6,500 pounds, which is better than what trucks like the Hummer H3T and Honda Ridgeline can tow.

The 2010 Frontier is available as a four-seat King (extended) cab or five-seat crew cab configuration. While the crew cab has enough space for back-seat passengers, many test drivers said that the King cab’s rear jump seats are too small to consider comfortable. Reviewers generally liked the Frontier’s cabin and appreciated its simple, easy-to-use controls, though one reviewer complained that cheap plastics detract from the cabin’s appeal. The base model comes sparsely equipped. Available features include a stereo with CD player and an auxiliary input jack, air conditioning, power windows, door locks and mirrors, satellite radio, Bluetooth, leather seats and a power sunroof.

Other Trucks to Consider

The 2010 Dodge Dakota can tow more than most of its rivals when properly equipped. The Dakota crew cab also offers seating for up to six people, as well as an available V8 engine.

The 2010 Toyota Tacoma impressed reviewers with its composed ride and high-quality interior, and the Tacoma earns a better safety score than most trucks in the class. The Tacoma can tow just as much as the Frontier, and it’s also available with a powerful V6 engine.
