2012 Nissan Armada Overview

Powered by a V8 engine mated to a five-speed automatic transmission, reviewers said the 2012 Nissan Armada has ample power in all situations. The Armada gets up to an EPA-estimated 13/19 mpg city/highway, which is on the low end for the class. Some automotive writers said the Nissan Armada offers fairly composed handling for a vehicle of its size, however, critics reported that its ride can be rough on bumpy roads. The 2012 Armada can tow up to 9,000 pounds, which is one of the highest towing capacities in the class.

Test drivers found the 2012 Nissan Armada's cabin to be dull-looking and comprised of budget materials. The Armada can seat up to eight people with its standard bench seat, though with the available second-row captain's chairs it seats seven. Reviewers were pleased with its large, comfortable front seats, but they noted that the third row is hard to access and the seats are uncomfortable and short on space. Standard equipment includes dual-zone automatic climate control and a six-speaker audio system. Available features include navigation, Bluetooth, a rearview camera, a rear-seat entertainment system, an 11-speaker Bose stereo system, satellite radio and a power liftgate. According to reviewers, the Armada's dashboard controls are intuitively arranged. With up to 97.1 cubic feet of cargo space, the 2012 Armada has one of the lowest cargo capacities in the class.

Other SUVs to Consider

The 2012 GMC Yukon Hybrid gets much better fuel economy than the Armada and it has more overall cargo space. Test drivers were pleased with the Yukon Hybrid’s first-rate cabin fit and finish and forgiving ride quality on bumpy pavement.

Reviewers said the 2012 Toyota Sequoia has a comfortable ride on the highway and is fairly maneuverable for its size in tight spaces. Automotive writers also reported that the Sequoia has an adult-sized third row, which is a rare compliment for the class.
