2010 Nissan Altima Overview

The 2010 Nissan Altima doubles as a practical family sedan and a fun-to-drive car. For even more sport, the 2010 Altima is also available as a coupe. When the Altima was new, reviewers praised its performance, saying it had good power, sharp handling and a smooth continuously variable transmission (CVT). They also liked the Altima’s attractive exterior and interior, noting there is sufficient passenger room.

The 2010 Altima’s safety scores, while not horrible, are below-average in its class. If you opt for the 2010 Altima coupe, you should also be prepared to have a tiny back seat and trunk. Some test drivers said even the sedan was a bit tight on head- and legroom in the rear seat. The Altima coupe’s manual transmission was disliked by test drivers for being imprecise.

The 2010 Nissan Altima has either a four-cylinder or V6 engine. A CVT is available on all sedan and coupe models, while a six-speed manual can be found on the Altima coupe. The Altima sedan gets 23/32 mpg city/highway with the four-cylinder engine, while coupes and V6 models earn slightly lower estimates. The sedan’s S trim includes features like push-button start, cruise control and a six-speaker stereo. Available options and features on higher trims include an upgraded stereo, sunroof, Bluetooth and USB connectivity, navigation and a backup camera. Six airbags, anti-lock brakes, traction control and electronic stability control are standard safety features on the 2010 Altima.

Other Cars to Consider

The 2010 Mazda6 is a close rival to the 2010 Nissan Altima because it is just as engaging behind the wheel. Both cars are labeled “fun to drive,” and reviewers liked their performance when they were new. Like the Altima sedan, the Mazda6 has all the room and practicality shoppers are looking for in a family sedan. The 2010 Altima sedan has better fuel economy than the Mazda6, but if you’re looking for a midsize car that’s engaging behind the wheel, the 2010 Mazda6 should also be on your list.

The 2010 Toyota Camry isn’t a car auto critics considered exciting or fun. However, the Camry earns points as a reliable and practical midsize car. The Camry is a good choice for shoppers who aren’t concerned with sporty driving dynamics or styling. It’s not as thrilling to drive as the Nissan Altima, but test drivers liked the Camry’s comfortable, quiet ride and refined engines.
