Toyota’s Full-Size Sedan Is More Luxurious Than Ever

The completely redesigned Toyota Avalon made its debut at the recent 2018 North American International Auto Show in Detroit. Model highlights include an upgraded V6 engine, an active variable suspension, a wealth of standard safety technology, and newly available Apple CarPlay.

The Avalon’s last redesign dates back to 2013. It will enter its fifth generation as a sleeker sedan riding on the same Toyota New Global Architecture (TNGA) platform as the all-new 2018 Toyota Camry, which tops our midsize car rankings. While the current Avalon finds itself leading the pack in our large car rankings, closely followed by the Avalon Hybrid, sales are lagging.

The 2018 Avalon is priced high when compared to other well-equipped, highly ranked large cars like the Chevrolet Impala and Kia Cadenza. However, the all-new 2019 Avalon’s modernized image, powerful engine, and up-to-date interior features may help it more successfully compete with the sportier, more upscale vehicles in the class, which share its higher price point.
