Which Vehicles Impress and Disappoint in J.D. Power Predicted Reliability

Modern cars and SUVs are loaded with more features than ever before. Bluetooth systems, backup cameras, touch-screen interfaces, and even massaging seats! All of these features make sitting in traffic a little more comfortable, but as your curmudgeon neighbor will point out … “Just one more thing to break!”

Reliability is one of the key factors in any car buying decision, which is why we’ve rounded up the most (and least) reliable vehicles in our luxury SUV rankings.

We use J.D. Power predicted reliability scores on our site. To predict the reliability of new car models, J.D. Power combines the results of two surveys: the Initial Quality Study (IQS), which assesses the problems with a new model in the first 90 days of ownership, and the Vehicle Dependability Study (VDS), which assesses the problems with a used model in the third year of ownership.

We also list price and the overall U.S. News score for each model, which is based on the consensus opinion of automotive critics, as well as the vehicle’s safety and predicted reliability scores. Keep in mind that scores can change as we collect new data.
