11) 2018 Nissan Frontier
U.S. News Overall Score: 7.3/10 | $18,990
It’s been a while since the Nissan Frontier has seen a substantial update, which is why this compact pickup truck lands at the bottom of its class rankings. Furthermore, the Frontier’s low cost of entry is matched by low everything else: fuel economy, power, and towing capacity, at least compared to its rivals.
Still, if you need an affordable small truck that covers the basics, the Frontier will probably suit your needs. It even has a few surprises inside, which we’ll talk about on the following slide.
2018 Nissan Frontier
U.S. News Interior Score: 7.1/10
The Frontier’s outdated cabin design and technology result in a low interior score. The front seats of this truck are very comfortable, even in the base model. In models with a second row, however, rear passengers have to cope with cramped, unsupportive seating.
Until this year, the Frontier’s tech and safety options made this truck look and feel like it was stuck in 2005, the year it was last redesigned. However, for 2018, Nissan includes a rearview camera and Bluetooth with every Frontier. Most rivals have better tech offerings, but this update helps somewhat.
10) 2018 Toyota Tundra
U.S. News Overall Score: 7.3/10 | $31,320
The full-size pickup truck category is full of strong performers, many with recent redesigns that make the Toyota Tundra feel underpowered and a little on the stale side. That is why the Tundra lands at the bottom of this class.
However, the Tundra has plenty of redeeming qualities. It has one of the best predicted reliability ratings in the segment, a generous list of standard safety features, and a cabin that is pretty comfortable, even though it isn’t as nice as those found in rival trucks.
2018 Toyota Tundra
U.S. News Interior Score: 7.6/10
Hop inside the Tundra and one of the first things you’re likely to notice is a user-friendly infotainment system with a 6.1-inch touch screen. This system includes Bluetooth, Siri Eyes Free, and voice recognition.
The Tundra’s front seats offer plenty of comfort and support. This truck is a good choice if you regularly carry passengers, since it can be outfitted to seat up to six, and the rear row provides more legroom than you’ll find in most other trucks.
8) 2018 Toyota Tacoma (tie)
U.S. News Overall Score: 8.9/10 | $25,400
The Toyota Tacoma currently holds the top spot in our compact pickup truck rankings, though its high overall score is due more to its performance, safety, and reliability scores than its interior. You’ll find a lot to like about the Tacoma, such as fantastic off-road ability and a competitive payload rating. Toyota also loads the Tacoma with plenty of standard safety equipment, which is another edge over the competition.
2018 Toyota Tacoma
U.S. News Interior Score: 7.9/10
If an upscale interior is important to you, the Tacoma might not be quite what you are looking for, as this truck’s cabin is functional, no-frills, and durable. The front row seats are comfortable and supportive, though the back row in either cab style can be a tight squeeze for adults.
The 6.1-inch touch-screen infotainment system includes Siri Eyes Free and Bluetooth. Upgrades such as leather upholstery and heated front seats help improve the comfort factor.
8) 2018 Nissan Titan
U.S. News Overall Score: 7.9/10 | $30,030
The Nissan Titan lands near the bottom of our full-size truck rankings thanks to its poor reliability score, sub-par performance and towing capacity compared to rivals, and the fact that it is generally outdated, particularly when it comes to technology features. The Titan is also more expensive than most of its competitors.
However, the Titan is pleasant to drive, and its smooth ride goes a long way toward improving this truck’s overall comfort level.
2018 Nissan Titan
U.S. News Interior Score: 7.9/10
Unlike some of the models in the full-size pickup class, the Nissan Titan doesn’t pretend to be anything other than what it is. The cabin of the Titan is unapologetically functional and ready to withstand heavy use. If you opt for one of the higher trim levels, you’ll find some upscale materials and finishes to help dress things up.
The seating is spacious and comfortable enough to satisfy most buyers, and a number of options are available, such as heated and cooled front seats and heated second-row seats. A 5-inch display and Bluetooth come standard.
6) 2018 Chevrolet Colorado (tie)
U.S. News Overall Score: 8.6/10 | $20,200
The well-rounded Chevrolet Colorado takes the third spot in our compact truck rankings, thanks in large part to its high score from critics. The Colorado has a low starting price and is one of the more affordable models in the class overall, which makes it a smart pick for a shopper on a budget. This is a good truck if you want a choice of efficient engines, high towing and hauling capacity, and spacious cab options.
2018 Chevrolet Colorado
U.S. News Interior Score: 8.2/10
The Colorado offers competitive performance without sacrificing comfort. Although the interior is pretty basic, you’ll enjoy a smooth, quiet, and comfortable ride.
The base Colorado seats just two people, but models with rear rows are spacious enough to seat adults in the back. Seating is comfortable and supportive overall, and you can upgrade to leather upholstery and heated front seats.
A rearview camera, a 4.2-inch display, and Bluetooth come standard.
6) 2018 Chevrolet Silverado 1500 (tie)
U.S. News Overall Score: 8.8/10 | $28,300
In our competitive full-size pickup rankings, the Chevrolet Silverado makes a great showing. A range of powerful engines provides strong hauling and towing abilities, and the Silverado is a capable off-road vehicle. In addition to its strong performance, the Silverado also provides great maneuvering and handling. An excellent predicted reliability rating means you’re covered over the long haul. Furthermore, the Silverado has a nice interior, even in entry-level models, and there are plenty of options available for customization.
2018 Chevrolet Silverado 1500
U.S. News Interior Score: 8.2/10
The Silverado, which seats between three and six passengers, is a good choice if you often have friends or families to bring along. The seats are comfortable and spacious in both rows and feel well-built, even in lower trim levels.
In higher trim levels, the Silverado’s cabin feels upscale, thanks to options like leather upholstery, heated and cooled front seats, and a heated steering wheel. The Silverado also has a long list of tech features. Standard amenities include a 7-inch touch screen and Bluetooth.
5) 2018 GMC Canyon
U.S. News Overall Score: 8.6/10 | $21,100
The GMC Canyon ties for third place in our compact pickup truck rankings, sharing the spot with its platform-mate, the Chevy Colorado. Like the Colorado, the Canyon is a favorite amongst critics. More than the Colorado, it has earned a reputation as an upscale option in the segment. The Canyon has great towing and hauling capabilities and is another good choice for buyers who like to choose from a variety of strong-yet-efficient powertrains.
2018 GMC Canyon
U.S. News Interior Score: 8.4/10
Take a serious look at the Canyon if you want a compact truck with a really nice interior. The Canyon has one of the nicest cabins on the market. The seats are supportive and spacious, and there is room in the second row for adults. The cabin is full of upscale, high-quality materials, more so than many buyers would expect to find in a truck. Every Canyon comes with a 7-inch touch-screen infotainment system with Bluetooth, Apple CarPlay, and Android Auto smartphone integration.
3) 2018 Ford F-150 (tie)
U.S. News Overall Score: 8.9/10 | $27,705
The Ford F-150 is one of the best trucks on the market, and until it was unseated by the redesigned Ram 1500, it handily led the full-size truck rankings. The F-150 is one of the best-selling vehicles in the world, thanks to its class-leading capabilities, efficient range of engines, and modern technology features. If you want a well-rounded full-size pickup truck that also happens to have a classy interior, the Ford F-150 should be on your short list.
2018 Ford F-150
U.S. News Interior Score: 8.6/10
Though the F-150’s cabin quality falls short of class leaders, it’s still pretty good. In fact, it’s probably a lot better than most people would expect from a pickup truck. The F-150’s seats stand out as being especially comfortable and spacious, particularly since the driver and front passenger get bucket seats. Models with a rear row can easily fit three adults. Options include vinyl or leather upholstery, a heated front seats and steering wheel, and massaging front seats. However, you’ll have to go above the base model to get a touch-screen infotainment system, Bluetooth, or navigation.
3) 2018 GMC Sierra 1500 (tie)
U.S. News Overall Score: 8.4/10 | $29,000
The GMC Sierra is the No. 4 model in our full-size truck rankings, but it outshines many competitors when it comes to interior comfort. In addition to its classy cabin, the Sierra also features good safety scores and is a great choice for buyers who often use a truck for towing. All of these characteristics add up to make the GMC Sierra a smart choice for a functional-yet-comfortable daily driver.
2018 GMC Sierra 1500
U.S. News Interior Score: 8.6/10
The base Sierra seats three passengers across a front bench, and the cab can be configured to seat a total of five or six. In larger cabs with a rear row, you can swap out the front bench for front bucket seats. In all cases, the seats are supportive and accommodating. You’ll get standard cloth upholstery, but can upgrade to vinyl or leather. Other options include front power-adjustable seats, heated and cooled front seats, and a heated steering wheel.
For 2018, GMC includes a 7-inch touch screen on every Sierra, which accompanies standard Bluetooth, Apple CarPlay, and Android Auto.
2) 2019 Honda Ridgeline
U.S. News Overall Score: 8.7/10 | $29,990
If you are looking for something a little different than the typical compact pickup truck, take a look at the Honda Ridgeline. The Ridgeline is a little on the expensive side, and it can’t match competitors in terms of towing capacity, but the tradeoffs are an extremely pleasant driving experience, an upscale interior, and bed features that will make your next camping trip or tailgate party an absolute blast. The Ridgeline finishes second in its class rankings, so clearly, its unconventional approach strikes a chord with critics.
2019 Honda Ridgeline
U.S. News Interior Score: 8.7/10
The Ridgeline’s cabin blows most of the competition away. You’ll find high-quality, soft-touch materials on almost every surface, and the dash controls have a pleasing, intuitive layout. The cabin is quiet and well-insulated from road noise. The front seats are supportive on long drives, and the rear row comfortably accommodates three adults. However, the Ridgeline can’t be configured with different cab styles. The cabin is extremely functional, with plenty of storage space throughout. Standard features include a 5-inch display, Bluetooth, and push-button start.
1) 2019 Ram 1500
U.S. News Overall Score: 9.0/10 | $31,695
It should be no surprise that the top-ranked full-size pickup truck happens to be the most comfortable truck on the market. The Ram 1500 is fully redesigned for 2019, and in addition to its cushy interior, it also offers some of the best towing and hauling ratings in the class, a range of powerful engines, and great ride and handling characteristics. In short, it’s hard to go wrong with the Ram 1500.
2019 Ram 1500

You’ll find a sophisticated, comfortable interior in every Ram 1500 model. From Practical to Practically Luxurious, There’s a Truck for Everyone
Automakers want you to know that the cabin of a pickup truck doesn’t have to be a penalty box. Sure, there are plenty of them out there, since almost every truck model on the market today has a sparsely equipped base model, or “work truck,” trim level designed for buyers who need capability without all the coddling.
But what if you want to be coddled? There certainly is nothing wrong with that, and today’s trucks are experts at multitasking. Don’t give up on the possibility of comfortable seating and user-friendly technology just because you need a bed and a hitch.
If you are shopping for a new truck this year, you have plenty of options, and this slideshow will help you drill down to the models that are most likely to check off the boxes on your wishlist. These are the most comfortable trucks currently on the market, based on the interior score from U.S. News truck reviews and rankings.
