2009 Mitsubishi Galant Overview

When it was new, reviewers said the 2009 Galant was a middle-of-the-pack choice among midsize cars, while its interior refinement trailed most of the class. They thought the Galant’s performance was satisfying, but most agreed that only the Ralliart trim was fun to drive. Auto critics said the Galant’s brakes were adequate, but its engines were loud and unrefined. The 2009 Galant will get you where you need to go, but used car shoppers may be disappointed with its meager fuel economy.

The front-wheel drive Mitsubishi Galant comes with either a four-cylinder engine and a four-speed automatic transmission or a V6 engine with a five-speed automatic. The Ralliart trim offers the most power in the lineup. Six airbags and anti-lock brakes are standard on the 2009 Galant. Traction control is available on Sport and Ralliart models. Electronic stability control is not available, which disappointed reviewers.

Other Cars to Consider

The 2009 Ford Fusion is one of the top-ranked 2009 midsize cars. When it was new, test drivers liked the Fusion’s sporty handling and good driving dynamics. Its cabin and trunk are especially spacious, which is good if you are shopping for a used family sedan. It also has a high safety score. However, like the Galant, some competing 2009 midsize cars offer better fuel economy.

The 2009 Toyota Camry is a good car to consider if you’re exploring the Mitsubishi Galant. The Camry has better safety ratings and fuel economy. When it was new, test drivers said its performance didn’t wow them, but they were satisfied with the amount of horsepower from both engines. They also liked the Camry’s refined, pleasant ride and handling. Additionally, reviewers agreed that the 2009 Camry has one of the nicest interiors in the class.
