2011 Mini Cooper Overview

Available as a hardtop and convertible, the 2011 Mini Cooper is all about performance. Three trims are available, and as you go up the model line, the amount of horsepower increases. While the base Cooper’s horsepower rating is significantly less than the more powerful Coopers S and John Cooper Works models, reviewers said that it’s still fun to drive. Great driving dynamics won’t cost you much at the pump either, as the base Mini Cooper gets up to 29/37 mpg city/highway.

While reviewers found the Mini Cooper fast and agile, some shoppers may want more interior space. This small hatchback has four seats, and with two rear passengers, its cargo capacity is one of the lowest in the class. After testing the Cooper, reviewers found the front seats spacious, but the back seat doesn’t offer much legroom.

The 2011 Cooper’s list of interior features is impressive. Standard features include an auxiliary input jack, HD and satellite radio, keyless entry and a leather-wrapped steering wheel with audio and cruise controls. If you want high-tech features, look for models with Mini Connected, which includes Bluetooth and USB connections. The Mini Cooper has a lot of standard safety features, and it has high safety scores.

Other Cars to Consider

Consider the 2011 Mini Cooper Clubman if you like the Mini Cooper but need more interior space. The Clubman is available with the same engine choices as the Mini Cooper. Clubman models have more passenger and cargo space than the Mini Cooper, though the available room isn’t much by class standards. With the 2011 Clubman, you also get good fuel economy ratings and nimble handling, just like the base Cooper.

The 2011 Nissan Juke is another 2011 small car with funky styling and good performance. What sets the Juke apart from the Mini Cooper is that it’s available with all-wheel drive. While the Juke’s fuel economy ratings aren’t as good, the Juke still impressed car reviewers with its good handling. The Juke also performed well in crash tests and has comfortable front seats.
