Test drivers report that the 2014 Mercedes-Benz G-Class has a premium cabin lined with soft leather and attractive wood and chrome trim. Some add that the upright windshield and boxy vehicle design make the cabin fairly noisy, however. As with a few other vehicles in this class, the G-Class offers most features as standard equipment. The G-Class' front seats are liked by reviewers for their comfort and support, though critics write that both the front and rear seats could use more legroom. Test drivers appreciate that the standard COMAND infotainment system is straightforward, but dislike that the rear wheel wells intrude into usable cargo space, and note that the rear cargo door is heavy and cumbersome to open.

The 2014 Mercedes-Benz G-Class seats five people and has standard leather upholstery, a power-adjustable steering wheel, heated and ventilated front seats and heated rear seats. Upgraded leather upholstery and a heated steering wheel are optional. Reviewers report that the front seats offer good comfort, support and headroom, though critics note that there could be more legroom. Standard features in the 2014 Mercedes G550 and G63 AMG include dual-zone automatic climate control, navigation, satellite radio, a Harman Kardon stereo system, Bluetooth, blind spot monitoring, a rearview camera and Mercedes' COMAND infotainment system with an iPod interface. The G-Class offers nearly all of its available features as standard equipment.

According to test drivers, the COMAND system is straightforward and easy to use, with a logical menu layout, but does take some time to learn. Others add that the G-Class' climate controls are too low to reach easily and that some buttons on the center stack require a precise push. They add that the navigation system is fairly easy to program, but complain that the maps it displays aren't labeled well enough. Reviewers like the excellent sound quality of the Harman Kardon stereo system.

The 2014 Mercedes-Benz G-Class has up to 75.1 cubic feet of cargo space, which is a bit less than what most rivals offer, though many have three rows of seats compared to the G-Class' two. Most test drivers are not particularly impressed with the G-Class' cargo space and small-item storage, writing that the rear wheel wells are intrusive and make it difficult to load wider items. Others add that getting to the cargo area means opening a heavy, side-mounted gate.
