Check Out the Third Generation of Mercedes’ Largest SUV

The Mercedes-Benz GLS was introduced in 2006, under the GL nameplate, and was renamed the GLS as part of a facelift for the second generation, in 2015. For 2020, Mercedes has redesigned the GLS, complete with a reveal at the 2019 New York International Auto Show.

The GLS is the largest model in Mercedes’ SUV-heavy lineup, and the redesign maintains and improves upon its luxury characteristics and performance potential. It’s a pretty glam-looking vehicle, but more than willing to get dirty by venturing off the beaten path.

The 2019 Mercedes GLS currently holds the second spot from the top in our luxury large SUV rankings, and there’s little to complain about there. If you’re shopping for a vehicle in this class in the coming months, you might be wondering if it’s worth holding out for the new, or getting ahold of the outgoing model while the getting is good. We’ll dive into what we know so far about the 2020 GLS so you can get a better idea.
