2017 Mazda3 vs. 2017 Mazda6: Worth the Upgrade?

2 of 11

Winner: 2017 Mazda3 (Details Below)

Mazda3 pricing runs from $17,845 to $24,945, which makes it roughly $5,000 less expensive than the Mazda6, whose prices range from $21,945 to $30,695.

But what do you get for that?

The Mazda6 only has one engine, a 184-horsepower four-cylinder mated to a six-speed manual transmission, although it can be upgraded to an automatic for an extra $1,050. The base Mazda3 also comes with the same six-speed manual, but the base engine only makes 155 horsepower. To get the more powerful engine, you’ll need to spend at least $20,445 for the Touring trim.

In either vehicle, the Touring package (starting at $24,195 in the Mazda6) adds dual-zone automatic climate control, leatherette upholstery (over the standard cloth), six-way adjustable driver’s seat, and many other features.
