2012 Lincoln Navigator Overview

With its standard V8 engine, most critics said the 2012 Navigator can feel sluggish when full of passengers or cargo, and some mentioned that it isn't as powerful as rivals like the Cadillac Escalade. A six-speed automatic transmission and rear-wheel drive are standard and four-wheel drive is available. Both a standard model and long-wheelbase Navigator L are available. According to the EPA, the 2012 Lincoln Navigator gets up to 14/20 mpg city/highway, which is comparable with most rivals’ estimates. Reviewers reported that the Navigator has a stable, smooth ride and decent handling for a large SUV, as well as precise steering and plenty of stopping power.

Automotive journalists said the 2012 Lincoln Navigator’s cabin has a classy design but features a few low-rent plastics and switches. The Navigator seats seven in three rows with its standard middle-row captain's chairs, though models with the available middle-row bench can seat eight. Reviewers wrote that all three rows of seats are comfortable and spacious, and that its third-row seat is among the most hospitable in the class. The Navigator has 103.3 cubic feet of cargo space behind the front seats, which is good for the class. The long-wheelbase Navigator L offers up to 128.2 cubic feet of cargo space. Auto writers reported that the second- and third-row seats fold easily, making expanding the cargo area a simple task. The 2012 Navigator comes standard with leather upholstery, front seats that are heated, ventilated and power-adjustable, heated second-row seats, a rearview camera, front and rear parking sensors, dual-zone automatic climate control, navigation, a 14-speaker audio system and the SYNC voice command system with a USB port and Bluetooth for compatible mobile devices. A moonroof and a rear-seat entertainment system are available.
