2011 Lincoln MKZ Hybrid Review

The all-new for 2011 Lincoln MKZ Hybrid gets better gas mileage than the gas-only MKZ while maintaining its upscale interior and comfortable ride. If you’re looking for a luxurious 2011 midsize car and want to use less fuel, the MKZ Hybrid is a good choice.

Pros & Cons

  • Great fuel economy
  • Comfortable ride
  • Inviting interior
  • Limited trunk space
  • Not distinctive enough from Ford Fusion Hybrid

2011 Lincoln MKZ Hybrid Overview

When it was new, critics liked that the 2011 Lincoln MKZ Hybrid was very similar to the gas-only MKZ, aside from its hybrid powertrain. That also means that the MKZ Hybrid isn’t the best performer in the class, but then again, that’s not an uncommon trait for most hybrids. If you’re considering the MKZ Hybrid for its smooth ride, high-quality interior and good fuel economy, critics said you won’t be disappointed.

The MKZ Hybrid’s powertrain pairs a four-cylinder gasoline engine with an electric motor to produce a total of 191 horsepower. Critics said the combination gives the MKZ Hybrid enough power for cruising and passing on the freeway. Fuel economy is 41/36 mpg city/highway, which good for the class, and bests that of the hybrid 2011 Lexus HS 250h. The MKZ Hybrid’s cargo capacity is low for the class at just 11.8 cubic feet, but it’s comparable with what you’ll find in its hybrid competitors.

Critics generally liked the MKZ Hybrid’s interior, praising its comfortable, spacious seats. The interior does draw some ire, though, for not being distinctive enough from the very similar 2011 Ford Fusion Hybrid. Standard equipment includes leather seats, Lincoln’s SYNC infotainment system, hybrid-specific gauges that display fuel economy information, rear parking sensors, heated and ventilated front seats and dual-zone automatic climate control. The MKZ Hybrid also is equipped with integrated blind-spot mirrors, anti-lock brakes and six airbags.

Other Cars to Consider

If you’re after great fuel efficiency, you may also like the 2011 Chevrolet Volt. The Volt is a plug-in hybrid that offers a fairly good electric-only driving range, as well as a gas engine so you don’t need to worry about depleting the batteries. The Volt also comes with plenty of interior features and technology. The Volt can only seat up to four, so it may not be ideal for use as a family vehicle.

Critics said that the 2011 Lexus HS 250h has a fairly high-quality interior and an impressive array of tech features. Keep in mind that its fuel economy, though good by most 2011 midsize car standards, is less than that of the MKZ Hybrid. Still, the HS 250h’s high-quality interior makes it a suitable rival to the MKZ Hybrid.
