2012 Lincoln MKX Review

The 2012 Lincoln MKX gets excellent fuel economy for the class and reviewers were pleased with its comfortable ride and luxurious cabin, but said it isn't all that fun to drive.

Pros & Cons

  • Excellent fuel economy
  • Spacious back seat
  • Glitchy MyLincoln Touch infotainment system

2012 Lincoln MKX Overview

The 2012 Lincoln MKX has a V6 engine that reviewers said generally produces sufficient power, but noted that the MKX occasionally feels sluggish. It comes standard with a six-speed automatic transmission and front-wheel drive. All-wheel drive is available. The 2012 MKX gets up to an EPA-estimated 19/26 mpg city/highway, which is excellent for the class. Test drivers said the MKX is not very sporty, but it handles competently and has responsive steering and a supple ride quality, they said.

Auto writers praised the 2012 Lincoln MKX's five-seat interior for its elegant materials and quietness. The front seats are very comfortable and the rear seats are spacious, with plenty of legroom, reviewers noted. The MKX's maximum 68.6 cubic feet of cargo space is class-competitive. The MKX comes with a 10-speaker CD audio system, satellite radio, a USB port, an auxiliary input, the MyLincoln Touch infotainment system, Bluetooth, dual-zone automatic climate control, leather seats, heated and ventilated power front seats, rear parking sensors and a power liftgate. Available features include a rearview camera, a power-adjustable and heated steering wheel, upgraded leather, heated rear seats, a panoramic sunroof, blind spot warning, an upgraded audio system, HD Radio, navigation, adaptive cruise control and a rear-seat entertainment system. Some reviewers said the infotainment system is fairly straightforward, while others said the touch-screen display is glitchy when responding to inputs and added that the system can be distracting and hard to use while driving.

Other SUVs to Consider

Reviewers said the 2012 Acura MDX has an upscale cabin that feels posh and inviting. They also said its sharp steering and nimble handling make it incredibly fun to drive.

Test drivers were impressed with the 2012 Infiniti FX’s powerful engine options and said it has athletic handling. They added that its cabin has top-notch materials and build quality, as well as supportive front seats.
