2015 Lincoln MKT Review

The Lincoln MKT has a quiet and luxurious interior, a silky smooth ride, solid predicted reliability, and great safety scores that push it toward the top of the luxury midsize SUV class. However, it loses points for its limited third-row headroom and fiddly touch screen.

Pros & Cons

  • Potent V6 engines
  • Tranquil ride
  • Upscale, comfy interior

  • Slow infotainment system
  • Cramped third row

2015 Lincoln MKT Overview

Is the 2015 Lincoln MKT a Good Used SUV?

The 2015 Lincoln MKT is a fine option if you’re shopping for a 3-row luxury midsize SUV. The seven-passenger MKT has a comfortable ride, a cozy interior, good predicted reliability, and lower-than-average used car prices. It packs lots of standard features as well, and it’s available with many advanced safety systems. That said, the MKT’s controversial exterior styling might put off some buyers.

Used 2015 Lincoln MKT Performance and Interior

The Lincoln MKT is available with two engine options: a V6 with 303 horsepower (comes with front-wheel drive only) and a twin-turbocharged V6 with 365 horsepower (with all-wheel drive only). A refined six-speed automatic transmission is standard. Both engines provide ample muscle for getting the SUV up to speed, even when loaded with passengers and cargo. The turbocharged EcoBoost V6 is a better match for the MKT though. It yields better passing power without sacrificing much fuel economy. The standard V6 gets 17 mpg in the city and 24 mpg on the highway; the twin-turbo V6 gets 16/22 mpg city/highway.

The hefty MKT leans when rounding tight turns and feels cumbersome when maneuvering through tight parking lots and streets. But what it lacks in sportiness, it more than makes up for in ride comfort. The MKT has a supple, composed ride and its suspension soaks up bumps with poise. All-wheel-drive models are equipped with Lincoln Drive Control, a type of adaptive suspension that improves ride quality even further. The MKT has a towing capacity of 4,500 pounds when properly equipped.

The Lincoln MKT seats seven and features an elegant, high-quality interior. The dashboard is cleanly styled and padded with soft leather. The cabin is hushed at highway speeds. The MKT’s first and second rows offer generous head- and legroom, and the seats are comfortable and well- contoured. Captain’s chairs are available for the second row, which reduce seating capacity to six but add a refrigerated center console. Leather upholstery, heated and cooled front seats, and heated rear seats are standard; cooled rear seats are available. There are three full sets of LATCH connectors for securing child car seats. Unfortunately, the third-row seats aren’t very accommodating. The sloping roof cuts into third-row headroom and restricts maximum cargo space to 75.9 cubic feet.

Lincoln equips all MKT models with an 8-inch touch screen, Bluetooth, SYNC voice recognition, satellite radio, USB ports, and the MyKey parental control system, which sets audio volume and vehicle speed limits. Available features include a navigation system and rear-seat DVD players. The dashboard has simple audio and climate control buttons and an easy-to-read digital gauge cluster. The voice recognition system works well too. However, the MyLincoln infotainment system isn’t user-friendly. The touch screen is often slow to respond to inputs, and its on-screen buttons are small and difficult to use when driving.

Should I Consider Another Used MKT?

The 2015 MKT marks the sixth model year of the vehicle’s first generation. The 2013 MKT received a midgeneration refresh that included interior and exterior styling updates, increased engine power, and new and updated features. There were no major changes for 2014 or 2015. As a result, you may find similarly equipped 2013 and 2014 models at much lower prices.

Which Used Lincoln MKT Is Right for Me?

Lincoln offers the 2015 MKT in two trim levels: base and EcoBoost. The base model MKT has heated and cooled front seats, leather upholstery, an 8-inch touch screen, Bluetooth, satellite radio, remote start, keyless entry, tri-zone climate control, cruise control, automatic on/off headlights, rear parking sensors, a rearview camera, a power liftgate, and a sunroof. The MKT EcoBoost adds a more powerful engine, all-wheel drive, and a smoother adaptive suspension.

You may want to shop for a certified pre-owned MKT. For its certified pre-owned vehicles, Lincoln extends its original powertrain warranty to six years or 100,000 miles. Lincoln puts its CPO vehicles through a 200-point inspection. Additional benefits like towing and roadside assistance may be available, so read the Lincoln warranty page carefully.

2015 Lincoln MKT and Other SUVs to Consider

Which Is Better: 2015 Lincoln MKT or 2015 Ford Flex?

The 2015 Ford Flex and Lincoln MKT share the same vehicle platform and engines. As a result, both offer similar fuel economy, a smooth ride quality, and many of the same safety and convenience features. The Flex benefits from lower used car prices and a more traditional design that yields better rear headroom and cargo space. The MKT, however, has higher-quality interior materials.

Which Is Better: 2015 Lincoln MKT or 2015 Buick Enclave?

The 2015 Buick Enclave is a great alternative to the MKT. This 3-row crossover SUV offers comparable fuel economy, refined handling, and an upscale cabin, but it trumps the Lincoln with far better passenger and cargo space. Used Enclave models are often available at lower prices as well, making it the better buy. That said, the MKT offers zestier acceleration from its V6 engines.

Which Is Better: 2015 Lincoln MKT or 2015 Acura MDX?

The 2015 Acura MDX is a popular choice among SUV shoppers thanks to its crisp interior and exterior styling, carlike handling, high fuel economy (up to 20/28 mpg), and excellent safety ratings. However, you’re likely to pay thousands more for an MDX than a comparably equipped MKT. The MDX also has below-average predicted reliability.
