2013 Lincoln MKT Review

Though its performance and interior design earned reviewer praise, tough-to-use tech features and a cramped third row keep the 2013 Lincoln MKT from the top of the class.

Pros & Cons

  • Comfortable ride
  • Small third row
  • Complicated MyLincoln Touch

2013 Lincoln MKT Overview

The 2013 Lincoln MKT has a standard six-cylinder engine, and a more powerful turbocharged six-cylinder engine is available. An automatic transmission comes standard. Reviewers said that models with the turbocharged engine feel unexpectedly quick. With the base engine and front-wheel drive, the 2013 MKT gets an EPA-estimated 17/25 mpg city/highway, which is decent for the class. Test drivers reported that the MKT has a comfortable ride and well-controlled body lean when cornering. The Lincoln MKT was the 2013 Best Luxury 3-Row Midsize SUV for Families when it was new because it had the best combination of quality, size and family-friendly features in its class.

Most automotive critics liked the 2013 Lincoln MKT’s seven-seat cabin, which they said has an attractive design. They also reported that it has comfortable seats in the first two rows, but the third row is pretty cramped, which is common among third rows. The MKT’s overall cargo space is fairly good for the class. Test drivers complained that the standard MyLincoln Touch infotainment system is slow to respond to inputs and is too complicated. Besides MyLincoln Touch, standard features in the 2013 MKT include Bluetooth, a USB port, navigation, leather upholstery and a rearview camera. A rear-seat DVD entertainment system, adaptive cruise control, a panoramic sunroof and a refrigerated second-row console are available.

Other SUVs to Consider

The 2013 Acura MDX offers seating for up to seven, and reviewers said it has easy-to-use tech features and is a strong all-around performer.

If you don’t need all seven seats in the MKT, consider the five-seat 2013 Lexus RX. Reviewers loved its serene cabin and quiet, comfortable ride. It also gets good fuel economy for the class.
