2011 Lincoln MKS Overview

In a segment that emphasizes performance, the 2011 Lincoln MKS trails the competition. When it was new, reviewers found that the MKS provided adequate acceleration, especially with the available twin-turbo V6, but its handling leaves a lot to be desired. The MKS lacks the agility and sportiness of some competitors and many test drivers felt the steering is too soft. However, the MKS does have available all-wheel drive, which auto critics thought improved handling, but hurt acceleration with its added weight. The all-wheel drive MKS models get comparable fuel economy with front-wheel drive models. The MKS has excellent safety scores.

For the most part, reviewers liked the spaciousness and cabin electronics inside the MKS, but some cheap interior materials diminished the car’s appeal. When it was new, test drivers felt that the interior of the MKS was out of place when compared to Mercedes’ or Audi’s interiors. Test drivers liked the seats in the MKS, but they said the interior didn’t quite match rivals’ levels of luxury. Reviewers appreciated the leather upholstery and heated rear seats that come standard on the base model, but they didn’t like the low-end buttons and controls. The MKS has a standard SYNC voice-activated infotainment system, a 10-speaker THX II sound system with a USB input and rear heated seats. Available features include a touch-screen navigation system, a rearview camera and a sunroof. In terms of cargo space, the MKS has a huge trunk, though reviewers said a narrow opening makes it hard to store larger items.

Other Cars to Consider

If safety is a concern, the 2011 Volvo S80 should be at the top of your list. Much like the MKS, the S80 isn’t very sporty, but offers more than adequate performance on a daily commute.

The 2011 Acura RL is a great large luxury car that offers better performance than the MKS. The RL comes with standard all-wheel drive, but still gets comparable fuel economy to the MKS. However, the RL doesn’t have the same amount of cargo or interior space as the MKS.
