2010 Lincoln MKS Review

  • Spacious interior
  • Strong safety scores

  • Subpar interior materials
  • Uninspiring handling

2010 Lincoln MKS Overview

When it was new, reviewers thought that the MKS was comfortable and composed, but had underwhelming performance for a luxury sedan. Available with front- or all-wheel drive, many test drivers called the MKS sluggish when equipped with the base 3.7-liter V6, and said that it didn’t handle as well as sportier rivals in the class. However, the available EcoBoost model improves the situation by making all-wheel drive standard and adding a twin-turbo 3.5-liter V6 engine. The MKS has a high safety score, and its fuel economy ratings aren’t bad. Still, many rivals use less fuel.

When it was new, reviewers felt that the MKS’ interior was roomy and comfortable, but also noted that it couldn’t compete with more upscale interiors offered by Mercedes-Benz or BMW. Reviewers thought that the MKS has excellent cabin electronics, but cheap interior materials limit its appeal. The MKS has above-average cargo space, but reviewers thought that the narrow trunk made it difficult to load larger items.

The base MKS comes with a long list of standard features, which include rain-sensing wipers, push-button start, a rear sunshade, leather, dual-zone climate control, heated and ventilated front seats, heated rear seats, satellite radio and Ford’s Sync system, which includes USB and Bluetooth connectivity. Options when the MKS was new included a moonroof, upgraded interior trim, navigation, a backup camera, adaptive cruise control and an upgraded stereo.

Other Cars to Consider

The 2010 Volvo S80 is a quiet and safe sedan that is worth considering. Like the MKS, the S80 isn’t very sporty according to reviewers, but is great for a daily commute. If you choose the S80, you get slightly better safety scores and performance than the MKS.

If you’re looking for better performance, you should check out the 2010 Acura RL. The RL comes with standard all-wheel drive, though that takes a toll of fuel economy. The RL edges out the MKS in terms of safety and performance, but the MKS has a more comfortable interior.
