2009 Lincoln MKS Review

The 2009 Lincoln MKS boasts a high-tech cabin and strong safety scores, but with middling fuel economy and underwhelming performance, you may want to look at other used luxury cars.

Pros & Cons

  • Long list of standard features
  • Spacious interior
  • Good safety score
  • Underwhelming performance
  • Marginal fuel economy

2009 Lincoln MKS Overview

The 2009 Lincoln MKS doesn’t try to compete with top performers in the class, however, it offers a driving experience worlds away from the 2008 Lincoln Town Car it replaced. When it was new, reviewers thought that the MKS has a smooth and composed ride, but most agreed that the MKS lacks the acceleration and agility of cars like the 2009 BMW 5-Series. The MKS’ fuel economy also trails many of its rivals’, but front- and all-wheel drive models get comparable fuel economy estimates, which is rare.

When it was new, reviewers were impressed with the MKS’ roomy cabin and numerous standard features. However, several test drivers noted hard plastics and cheap materials, which detract from an otherwise upscale interior. If you can overlook the cheaper bits, the MKS outdoes many of its competitors with standard heated rear seats, heated and cooled front seats and Lincoln’s SYNC infotainment system. The MKS also has one of the largest trunks in the class, but reviewers thought that the narrow trunk access made it difficult to load large items.

Other Cars to Consider

The 2009 Cadillac DTS offers a smooth, comfortable ride and an extremely spacious interior. The MKS gets better fuel economy, however.

The 2009 Volvo S80 doesn’t come with as many standard features as the MKS, but reviewers liked its stylish interior and comfortable front seats. Like the MKS, you can get the S80 with all-wheel drive, which should appeal to shoppers who see inclement weather.
