2007 Lincoln Mark LT Overview

The 2007 Lincoln Mark LT is praised for its satisfying handling, characterized by a refined steering and soft suspension, as well as its workhorse capability, imposing road presence and spacious interior cabin. Still, inefficient fuel consumption, an uncomfortable backseat and lack of stability control and side curtain air bags detract from its overall appeal.

Though the Mark LT is only available as a SuperCrew Cab, drivers may choose between a 4x2 and 4x4 model, as well as a short or long wheelbase. The Mark LT's standard powertrain consists of a 300-horsepower V8 engine and four-speed automatic transmission -- which reviewers agree is satisfactory. "Like the F-150, the Mark LT feels adequately powered for everyday driving. And although it won't wow you with its might, the V8 never runs out of steam and keeps a steady pull well into highway speeds," says Edmunds. Even with its maximum hauling/towing capacity of 1,680/8,900 pounds, most reviewers agree that it handles quite smoothly.

While most auto writers commend Lincoln for the Mark LT's flashy chrome accents and imposing exterior design, some criticize it for bearing too close of a resemblance to its Ford counterpart. "So it's finally come to this: One of America's great luxury marques, once the preferred transport of presidents and plutocrats, is now basically a trim level on an F-150 pickup truck," grumbles Motor Trend.

Though the Mark LT receives mixed reviews for its overall fit and finish, most reviewers agree that its spacious cabin has enough head and legroom to accommodate five passengers. Still, many complain of an uncomfortable backseat design. Despite this, the Detroit News asserts that alongside "its only real luxury competitor, the Cadillac Escalade EXT, Mark LT's interior is superior."

While IntelliChoice gives the 4x2 Lincoln Mark LT a rating of "Worse Than Average" for its predicted five-year total cost of ownership compared to other vehicles in its class, the 4x4 model earns a rating of "Average." Edmunds warns, "Essentially an F-150 with a grille kit, the 2007 Lincoln Mark LT isn't significantly different from its Ford sibling. Although it has an attractive interior, the Mark LT's upgrades don't justify its price compared to a loaded Ford pickup." MSN adds, "Despite being equipped with luxury car comfort and convenience features, the Mark LT's moderately long options list can cause its price to escalate." IntelliChoice names the 2007 Mark LT its "Best In Class Winner" for "Lowest Repair Costs."
