Buying Advice

Last Updated: May 10, 2019

Slow, Steady Sales: Sales of the Lexus LX have remained constant in 2019 compared to the same span in 2018. However, the LX is among the slowest selling options in the luxury large SUV segment, with the class-sales leading Cadillac Escalade outselling the LX by more than 5 to 1.

High Prices: The LX starts at $86,080, which is about $8,800 above the class average (excluding the pricey Mercedes-Benz G-Class). There are several options, such as the Lincoln Navigator and the Mercedes Benz GLS-Class, that have a higher rank and a starting price that is at least $12,000 lower than the LX.

Time to Buy: It is hard to justify purchasing the Lexus LX when it is essentially the rebadged, more expensive version of its better-ranked brother, the Toyota Land Cruiser. If a status symbol is what you’re after and off-roading isn’t a top priority, you can spend almost $16,000 less and be just as satisfied with something like the top-ranked GLS. Our Lexus deals, Toyota deals, and Mercedes-Benz deals pages have all current financing and lease offers for each option.
